- traveltheworld461Fort McMurray, Canada3,063 contributionsBeautiful place to exploreWe parked at the Fisherman’s Wharf and it was $12 for three hours. We were there early in the day so not a lot of shops and restaurants were open when we were arrived. We walked on the trail along the water towards town and took a water taxi back in the afternoon. We saw seals. When we got back, more places were open. Definitely recommend to stop by and walk around.Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 25 October 2023
- HdeRooijHoorn, The Netherlands274 contributionsNice little boathouse village at the piers. Few small restaurants.Easy to go to, next to the city center. Good view on the harbour of the city. Nice little shops and take-out retaurants. I would recommend the fishstore. The fishcakes are excelllent. Chowder also. Heating at the open bar. Easy going on the wharf.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 October 2023
- TheItineraryOfLifeBay City, Michigan107 contributionsTake a lookDefinitely worth visiting and getting a few pictures! Looks very neat—great photos. We were suggested to eat at Fisherman’s Wharf, Barb’s Fish and Chips but we didn’t have the opportunity. Sea taxis looked cool. Excursions available to book at the wharf. Hop on/hop off bus stops there.Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 12 November 2023
- Stewarts Vacation1,543 contributionsCharming houseboat "village"We walked from our hotel all the way along the waterfront of Victoria's Inner Harbour, along David Foster Way, to Fisherman's Wharf. The colourful houseboats were a picturesque and eye-catching sight! It was fun to wander and admire the charming (some not so charming!) floating homes. There were food and ice cream kiosks, and places for booking tours. We spotted seals in the water. Well worth a visit.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 December 2023
- That Guy5 contributionsA Must Go, Find the TimeSo it looks like something in a storybook, tons of fish and sea animals but the favorite by far is a little seal who has made it home. He comes right up for pets. The shops are amazing and people are so welcoming. As a resident of BC, this lives up to our reputation. (Most things here are very over rated) There is an attached park and playground for the kids. Simply 10 out of 10 for me.Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 19 February 2024
- tdsuperstarToronto, Canada19,435 contributionsGreat area to check out!!Fisherman’s Wharf is just another great part of Victoria to check out. Lots of restaurants to choose from. I’d love to see the area on a weekend when there would be many more people and businesses open. It was a quiet Wednesday when I was at FW, we enjoyed the views and uniqueness of the area. I know we’ll be back!!Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 30 March 2024
- Jody ONew Baltimore, Michigan34 contributionsSweet little spot to spend awhileInteresting little venue with quirky little houseboats, some good food venues, scenic spot and a couple of nice shops. Just stake out a table and let your folks roam! Nice park next to it, for those restless little legs!Visited May 2024Travelled soloWritten 19 May 2024
- TERRAvelistaLondon, United Kingdom18,505 contributionsBeautiful clean areaFisherman's wharf is a beautiful area on the edge of the water with lots of restaurants/icecream places etc and where I assume people also live. We came here to take a whale watching tours, which I highly recommend if you like the sea and nature, despite being higher priced: you do not do this often, after all. There is a large paid car park with offers for 3 hours for example, great for taking a tour, although our tour over stayed and thankfully we we not fined for some 15ming over. This place was very lively even late May on a warm afternoon, although was empty upon returning at sunset. I would suspect in summer time to be always packed.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 July 2024
- Raintree_ThailandBangkok, Thailand4,289 contributionsNeat and tidy floating houses, but shops closed early!I was one of the hordes of cruise ship passengers disgorged from the ship when making its brief Canadian port call to satisfy legal requirements. Unfortunately, the ship docked in the evening and by the time I'd walked to Fisherman's Wharf (around 9:30 p.m.), all the shops and restaurants were closed. I still enjoyed seeing the colorful shops and especially the floating houses (surprisingly neat and comfortable looking). After a few photos, though, I headed elsewhere looking for an open pub. I'm sure many cruise ship passengers would like to explore Fisherman's Wharf more if the shops stayed open later.Visited June 2024Travelled soloWritten 28 July 2024
- Dls71013 contributionsExcellent place just watch out for Parking Charges after you pay with AppExcellent place to visit..boat Tour excellent. Only problem is the Parking I would not park in the lot provided try to park with the City Parking lots. The lot App doesn’t communicate with the team giving out tickets therefore even if you pay on the APP YOU WILL GET A TICKET. Then you have to appeal your ticket with a RUDE company that will not even provide proof that they cancelled your ticket. This is important if you rented the car. Several cars around us had tickets on their cars.Frustrating for a Tourist.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 August 2024

We've been to a few Fisherman's Wharfs in the States so we thought we would visit this one while we were in Victoria and that the fish and chips here were good.
Our schedule was pretty tight and couldn't make it during lunch time so we came one evening and found that you need to pay for parking. It was just a bit after 6pm, we noticed that there weren't many vehicles parked, so before we pay for parking, I asked my husband to walk down to the wharf to check it out. He came back saying the restaurants close at 6pm. Then we left.
We came back the next evening before 6pm. We didn't park at the pay parking lot, we parked on the street on Superior Street.
Fisherman's Wharf is quite small with a few floating houses and restaurants. We found it quite disappointing. We walked around to see the menus of the different restaurants there and finally we chose to try The Fish Store. Maybe it was October so restaurants close early, nothing much happening, plus CoVid. The sky started to turn dark while we were eating and turned cold too.
I think Spring and Summer time would be more suitable to visit this place, but still think it's quite small......not too exciting!

Fisherman's Wharf has always been one of our go to places on a nice, sunny summer day. Beautiful, peaceful location with amazing views over the waters. A multitude of great little eateries with reasonable prices and friendly people. You can also purchase live crab and lobster from the Hi Gear boat during the season at excellent prices. A number of beautiful, colorful and interesting floating homes along one side are also very interesting to see.

It’s a small area, but if you are staying close it’s worth a detour to see the colourful homes and maybe get an ice cream or fish and chips. These are peoples homes so it’s not really a place to linger; about 30 mins unless you stop for food. You can add this to a stroll around to the breakwater.

This is a nice place if you are a non vegetarian and sea food lover .
The restaurant has a great ambience of typical Goan Picturesque.
You won't be disappointed with the non vegetarian menu.
With the. Ambience of typical beach resort and open seating the best time to be here is during the monsoons.
You might expect a waiting time of close to 15-20 minutes if you are trying for weekend.
Overall a great experience and a good staff with on time service on the orders.

While we were in Victoria we wanted to make sure we stopped in at Fisherman's Wharf. Parking was available - paid parking. Sadly not a lot was open at this time. However, it was nice to walk around - it certainly wasn't crowded, and the floating homes were wonderful and colourful!! I am sure a visit in warmer climates would be a totally different experience.

When I think of Victoria - I think of this place. Our son, who was out there a few years, took us here ! WE were hooked, and you will be too.
It is a pleasant place where there is a variety of food but we always have seafood and then we wonder to the building next door for there excellent coffee.
Because it can be busy, parking is sometimes an issue. Be ready for it - although a walk, it isn't too far from the Parliament Building district of Victoria.

This is a very quaint little community, but unfortunately all the shops in the area are closed in the winter months. The private residences are very quaint, but you have to be respectful of their private property. We happened to get into a conversation with a local resident who even went as far as to invite inside their home to see what a house in the community looked like. It’s a nice place to visit, but it’s better in season.

We usually like to eat on Fisherman’s Wharf but this visit it was very crowded, not much social distancing being practiced. People were not taking turns using the access ramps as was posted. Needed to pull out the face masks and did not stay.

This is a tourist area with expensive parking and restaurants. There are a lot of fishing boats to look at. For one piece fish and chips the going rate is $18 and $22 for two pieces cod. It’s not really worth a visit as there are less busy marinas on the island.

Not a lot to see. U can see it all in about 15 minutes. There is a few places to eat that are good if food is what u are looking for. U can also see the house boats which are cool

We will be staying in Victoria in July. Where can we catch the water taxi to get to the Fisherman's Wharf?

we were staying quite close to fisherman's wharf so we were able to walk. sorry

How far is it from Empress Hotel? Could one walk? My mother can walk but not very far distances. Thanks!
Written 9 July 2016
It's about a 5 block walk. All flat but a good 15 minutes. Might be too far for your Mom
although there are many benches to stop and rest in between or you can take a Kabuki cab ( bicycle with trailer)

My husband and I will be in Victoria June 10-12; does anyone know of a great place to stay at Fisherman's Wharf? We wanted to stay at a floating B&B.
Thanks!
