Wonderful way to spend an hour or so. Fun, educational and very interesting.
Absolutely fantastic. Lots of creepy crawlies to look at. The educators are really engaging, passionate and fun. I learnt a lot and had a great time. My husband and 11 year old asked loads of questions and said how much they enjoyed it. We even got to hold a gigantic stock bug called Gertrude!

    Kylie was excellent!!
I took my eight year old to the Bug Zoo in downtown Victoria. She loved it! Very hands on, at least for her, not me!! Our guide, Kylie was terrific. She was enthusiastic, interactive and took quite a few questions from my daughter. Kylie made my daughter’s day, especially with all the bugs she got to touch and the stories told, especially about the millipede being such a “good farter”, cracked her up!! For an adult and an eight year old, it was just over $25 to go. Definitely worth it, the Victoria Bug Zoo may not be “flashy”, but it a worthy educational experience for both child and adult!!

    Great for oldies too!
Just brilliant. You needn't be a kid or have kids with you.. We are in our 60s and loved it. Thought we'd pop in for 1/2 hour whilst the cruise ship was docked, and stopped for 2 hours. Wonderfully knowledgeable staff - thanks Kylie, what an infectious enthusiasm you have!

Highly recommended - great for children and adults alike.
An amazing attraction! I honestly didn't expect it to be as good as it was, and stayed as long as I could before having to leave to catch my boat - but I certainly wish I'd been able to stay for longer! I don't remember the name of the tour guide but she was delivering the tour first thing in the morning 8th June. She seemed to know everything about the bugs and gave a great talk with a lot of more technical information for the adults and more basic info for the children. I only wish we'd been able to hold the tarantulas, though I can understand why we weren't able to. Anyone visiting victoria should go here. It's pretty inexpensive and both educational and enjoyable.

    Succeeded our expectations!
We had the best time! We popped in for a rainy day activity and joined Alyssa's tour as she talked about all the different bugs and we learnt so much. She was really great giving all the fun, weird and interesting facts in depth when it was just adults around and she was great with a group of kids that arrived as we were just leaving. It was really awesome being able to hold some of the bugs too!

There are not enough characters to express how terrible my customer experience has been with the Bug Zoo and there management. The staff working the day my family visited could not figure out how to sell annual memberships, and when they finally did the staff member wrote our names down on a scrap piece of paper and told us to say our names each time we visited. Who does that, why was there no membership card given? We tried to then book another tour a couple weeks after online because we had annual memberships, but the online reservation platform requires a membership #. I contacted the Zoo and they told us they have two types of membership, depending if you buy them in person or online. So basically we have annual memberships, but cannot reserve a spot online because of the type of membership we have. I asked to be refunded, the manager took my wifes CC, entered the refund on a "debit card" which obviously didn't go through, so we then had to contact the manager again and when we finally got the refund we were refunded for half the price because we got a "same day membership." A same day membership is when you buy a day pass, then upgrade to annual in the same day. What happened is upon entering the Zoo we tried to purchase annual passes, but the employee couldn't figure out how to sell an annual membership!!! He even said this to us, so he sold us day passes, then after our tour finished he figured out how to sell annual memberships and upgraded us. So because of the employees mistakes we loose out on half our refund. Worst tourist attraction experience in Victoria

I LOVE this place! I'm a huge spider fan and know quite a bit about insects and, particularly arachnids. The employees were awesome and so knowledgeable. As always, I love holding the animals and interacting with them and watching them.

Most people that go through here spend around 1/2 an hour but we were there for 2 hours (my fault) asking questions and interacting with the critters and staff.

Sadly, all the eligible spiders were unavailable to handle as they were all close to moulting.

The educators are so keen and knowledgeable, and they always respond to all of our questions with respect and enthusiasm, even the youngest of us. I love the flexibility of the way they set up their knowledge folks, so that you can easily move in and out of being with them. I deeply appreciate their covid protocols. Certainly a place well worth a visit for curious folks of all ages.

A great opportunity to meet some of our fellow travelers on spaceship earth and appreciate their amazing lives. The staff are passionate about the animals in their care and the bugs themselves don't seem to mind being handled. Who knew tarantulas could be so cuddly? I highly recommend this tour, especially for children to see and learn about these amazing creatures up close and in person.

The friend I was going to Victoria with is a major science nerd so I suggested we go here. The bugs are interesting, especially the ones that look like twigs or leaves and when you realize just how many there are. They have various scorpion and tarantula types plus a really cool ant set up. Very well managed during covid. Alex and then Lisa were in the rooms to provide information, both eager to share knowledge and happy to explain things. My friend really enjoyed it but for me personally I did think the entry fee was a bit steep for 2 rooms of bugs; however that could be because I was too sacred to look at the tarantula tanks.

If you go ask about the blue light on scorpions! So cool!

Well the employee told me it would take 20-40 mins to go through the museum with my 9 year old and that was a total LIE. I’m now sitting here for a third hour while my son walks around living out his Wild Kratts fantasy. the key is that the employee / guides in the back are terrific. They do nonstop loops around the 2 small rooms giving facts about various displays. He’s done maybe 2-3 circuits with them now, and they take out various insects to hold. Walking around without their interpretation/ education would be quite boring indeed.

We adore the Victoria Bug Zoo! It's a smaller experience - only two rooms and a gift shop - but there is SO much to see and learn about! The educators here absolutely make this experience. They are incredibly enthusiastic and knowledgeable, full of amazing facts and anecdotes, and a genuine love for these creepy, crawly critters. We spent about an hour there, and two different educators showed us leaf bugs, tarantulas, scorpions, cockroaches and beetles, up close and personal. And again, their knowledge of and enthusiasm for these critters makes the bugs fascinating rather than gross or creepy. Such a cool experience - we will definitely return again!

While this is a rather small location, our granddaughter (who loves bugs) really enjoyed it! The staff were knowledgeable and great. Due to COVID, we were the only guests and were able to go back and forth to the different species to see as we wanted. Worth a visit - espcially if you have kids that love bugs and spiders!

Visited this little bug "zoo" yesterday with family friends from out of town. I was particularly impressed with the unusual collection of insects and arachnids, and with the knowledgeable and enthusiastic young staff, who answered our questions and pointed out things we should look out for. I'm more than a bit arachnophobic, and as such really appreciated the staff being sensitive to this, and warning me in advance about which terrariums to avoid or observe from a greater distance.
