In my time I have gone Cat-Skiing more than most people and I just have to say that none of those experiences come close to what PowderMoutain had to offer me. The snow conditions were deep and fluffy, the Guides were incredibly professional and kind, the lunches they offered were delicious, and overall the whole experience was just what I needed to bring in the new year. I highly recommend anyone to go Cat or Heli skiing here, if the Cat-Skiing was that good I can only imagine what the Heli-Skiing must be like. I will definitely be returning.

I jumped on the cancellation for 2 (cat) spots and had secured a booking for 1 (heli) for the following week. Joel was super helpful and communicated as soon as the spots opened up! We had absolute superb conditions for cat skiing, the guides were awesome and allowed us to have boundaries but alot of freedom to make line choices, overall the group skill level was solid. The lunch was delicious and our group got 7 runs in. The photographers were excellent and the shots were epic.

The following week, I went for a heli trip as I was so impressed with terrain and the extra money was defintely worth it. The views and terrain were spectacular, I had 2 different guides this time but again it was the similar style of line choice with instruction of how to get a more challenging line. The heli had 3 groups and the wait times were miminal and enough time to take a photo. My group was awesome, high level of skill and we decided on the extra runs as we had the heli time.

Did the Cat skiing / boarding on what turned out to be blue sky day.  Went out with a great group of skiers and boarders, who for the most part were of all good ability. This was my first time backcountry boarding and everyone was super supportive, especially Don who helped me out a number of times!

Whilst I had read a number of reviews that criticised the short runs, whilst there were some, I didn’t feel they were too short and felt it was a good mixture.

I definitely recommend Power Mountain Cat and Heli Skiing and will be back, just with a powder board next time!

I had four amazing super keen clients staying with me in Kadenwood who we had booked in advance to go Heli Skiing for a day with Powder Mountain only for them to be told on the morning of, when they were in the office checking in they would not fly that day due to weather. No problem these things happen. However, my clients were then told by one of the staff members there were 3 spots left on the Cat Ski that day and they could absolutely have them. They were stoked but one person had to drop out. While my clients stepped aside to discuss, of the four who would not be going Cat Skiing, the owner Randy comes in with 3 friends and quickly informed his staff member his 3 friends will be taking the 3 spots left on the Cat Ski. He then sent that staff member over to inform my eager clients the Cat Ski offer was off the table and there was now nothing they could offer them that day or for the rest of the week. My clients had over heard this conversation with Randy (the owner) and the staff member, and were incredibly unimpressed with the incredibly rude and poor performance displayed by the owner of the company.
The follow up from the Power Mountain staff (not the owner) to explain the error was poor at best and extremely embarrassing.

Luckily for my clients we were able to book for the following day with Whistler Heli Ski.

First off , you were not there the morning this happened. Secondly the owner of the company was also not at the office that morning, making this story exactly that a story. So please when making a negative review at least have the facts straight. The only thing remotely true about this story is that we had to cancel heli skiing that day due to poor weather conditions which is common in Whistler. For safety reasons helicopters do not fly in fog as they cannot see the landings. The owner of the company was skiing that day but was in a private cat which has nothing to do with the 3 seats that were available in the public cat that was also going out. Therefore it is impossible for the owner to have swooped in and taken the seats when he had his own for his group. Lastly the 3 seats were taken by another group of heli skiers that were also cancelled that day and had booked in before your group was booked, making them first inline for the seats. Speaking of rude with poor performance, leaving a negative review about another company when you are completely wrong is well..... "Extremely Embarrassing", as a fellow business person you should do better to fact check before writing a negative review. I'm happy to hear the guests made it out the following day with Whistler Heliskiing it was a beautiful day in the mountains.

10/10 would recommend! Never ending bottomless powder within incredible terrain. I went today and was blown away about the whole experience. If you are looking for the one thing that Whistler can offer you that will make your day, trip, year, life memorable then look no further. A day like this i'll remember for the rest of my life. There wasn't anyone else on the mountain so we had fresh all day. Matched us with equal ability level skiers and we end up doing 9 runs. The guides were extremely professional, knowledgeable and friendly. I cant thank the team, Duncan, Nat, Max, Cristian and Pete for making feel at home and taking me to a surreal place both mentally and physically. Great service, great team with a guaranteed great time.

What a great day at Powder Mountain Catskiing and Heliskiing. Thank to the two stars of the day: our guides Mack and Phil, a great lunch prepared by Riverside Café and the best cat driver ever. What a great day and just 20 minutes from Whistler.

Thanks Powder Mountain Heli. Best blue bird day I've ever had. Thanks to our guide Don for the best powder runs all day long and Jason our pilot for the smooth ride. A great company with friendly and professional staff. I will definitely return.

have been there with a couple of friends and we were expecting a proper heli ride. and we have been extremely dissapointed. guides have been checking the snow even if there was not a minimum avalanche risk and the steepness was.... well not steep at all. have to admit there were also a couple of not so good skiers in the group, but the skill of the groups should be determined before.
a couple of days later we booked a cat trip. that was something. we all had the impression the guides and driver tried hard to give us the best of what they have.
would go again with them for a cat trip, but for heli i would choose other providers in the area.

The people and businesses of Whisler have always provided me with excellent, world class service over the years I've visited and worked there. Unfortunately, one company, Powder Mountain Heli and Cat Skiing, has been an exception to that. Their refusal to honour a valid Gift Certificate was, in my mind, unethical and shows poor respect for their customers.

Summary/ TL;DR
-Purchased a valid Gift Certificate from a colleague (given to him by our employer).
-Successfully booked a day of Cat Skiing
-Power Mountain cancelled the booking due to weather (I'm fine with that, that's life with winter activities)
-Power Mountain staff advised they would assist with rebooking for the next season. The original booking was in the second last week of the season so there were no practical options to rebook again that season (due to weather and availability).
-Sent an email to management to confirm in writing. No reply (first sign of bad management) for over a week until I sent a follow-up email.
-Powder Mountain management changed stance and refused to allow rebooking the package for next season. By they time the manager replied, they were closed for the season.
-Powder Mountain refuse on the basis that the Gift Certificate had to be used that season, and Gift Certificates were not allowed to be transferred to another person. The latter condition was NEVER stated on the physical Gift Certificate or their websites Terms & Conditions. The Gift Certificates was never made out to any particular individual either. Their response was clearly in breach of Canadian Consumer regulations around Gift Cards and Certificates.
-Furthur emails ignored with no response from management. Hundreds of dollars wasted

Expanded:
I purchased a Gift Certificate for a day package by Powder Mountain Cat and Heli Skiing package. The seller was a workmate who obtained it from our employer. There were NO terms and conditions on the Gift Certificate that stated it was not transferable to others or that reselling was not permitted. The Power Mountain sales and booking staff confirmed this before the sale and again as I made a reservation. A Gift Certificate by its definition is an asset that should be allowed to be given to another person.

Unfortunately, due to variable weather conditions, the booking was cancelled. By this time, it was near the end of the season, and no further dates were able to be booked. The booking staff said the Gift Certificate would be ok to carry onto next season considering the end of the season for both the company and my time there. I was to write to their management to get the extension.

An email was sent to Power Mountain management, clearly outlining the situation and what was discussed with their staff earlier. It took over a week and another email to get a response from management. It was at this point where things started to go downhill. Gordon, the manager, flat-out rejected the use of the Gift Certificate for another booking, regardless of the situation. That shocked me, as I had legitimately booked within the conditions and timeframe of the Gift Certificate. The booking had been cancelled due to Power Mountain's decision on the weather (fair enough, nobody controls the weather). One could only assume they have the responsibility to honour a Gift Certificate due to their call on cancelling a booking.

The manager's position was in stark contrast to what the booking and office staff had said to me when they cancelled the original booking. I was to forfeit hundreds of dollars of my money because the company did not have the courtesy or ethics to honour the Gift Certificate to the next feasible booking period (the following season).

It was made clear from Gordan's replies and dismissive attitude, that Power Mountain had no intentions of fulfilling their obligations of honouring the Gift Certificate. Gordan went so far as to say that it shouldn't have been resold (which is NOT mentioned anywhere in the Terms and Conditions of the physical certificate OR on their website). Gordan even went on to claim that I should take it up with the person whom I purchased the Gift Certificate for, saying it was they who ripped me off? That makes no logical sense at all, as the owner of a gift certificate has every right to sell or pass on a Gift Certificate to another person. It seems like Gordan's defence is to make customers feel like criminals.

The company, therefore, knew a customer was out of pocket by hundreds of dollars by not honouring their Gift Certificates. Unclaimable Gift Certificates are probably a great end of season bonus to their profit margins. Money before customers.

Never received a reply from my last email, so I assume they've conveniently washed their hands of the problem. I made enquiries with Tourism Whistler to advise the best course of action. They were helpful but unable to help in these situations. They did add that I wasn't the only person they heard having issues with Power Mountain in regards to honouring gift certificates or rebookings. Not surprising....

A disappointing situation that could so easily be avoided had it been managed properly with common sense, a good attitude and business ethics. I'm sure the Heli and Cat Skiing service is memorable and enjoyable. Unfortunately, I'll never get to experience this, as their manager's customer service and attitude leaves a lot to be desired.

Unfortunate situation to say the least. Powder Mtn works with local businesses to get their staff out for free and experience our product. The GC is specific to the business and the staff member that wins this GC. It also has an expiry date on it. We no longer offer these free GC to companies as we felt that selling the GC was not the intention of the GC. All I can say is that if I buy tickets to anything I buy them from the company that sells them in order to support that companies efforts to put out an amazing product. If I did not respond to an email then I did not get it. Anyone who knows me knows that I respond to every text or email no matter the situation. I would consider allowing this GC to go out again this year but not because you wrote this negative review, because I love our company and all the hard working staff that put so much effort into keeping our clients safe and happy. Feel free to email our office and we will attempt to rectify the situation. And to all the readers of this post, do not buy Gift Certificates from 3rd party sources. Thank you Gord main@powdermountaincatskiing.com.
