Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited in the lull between summer and ski season so we could just hike around. My kids, although soaking wet, didn’t want to go inside. This trail system is marvelous. Some are wide and paved but lots of other types - the Salish Stroll was nice. We will be back in the early summer to explore further.

Rented bikes and chariot (3 kids ages 9,7,5) from the bike shop in between Hilton and Westin, Great and knowledgeable staff. Then started the Valley trail from Westin, alongside the Golf course. Rode around Alta lake, towards Rainbow park. Stopped at Rainbow park for a small picnic that we packed in backpack. Was a very hot day, but started at 10 am. Plenty of shade along the way. Saw a bear in the neighbourhood area of the lake. Had to walk bikes up with kids at some points, but not crazy hills by any means! Overall, was a great Family experience and highly recommend for new cyclers. Our 5 year old was in the chariot, the rest of us biked.

Being able to ride your bike along this network of paved trails, is something we look forward to each and every time we visit. Riding by the various lakes and rivers, stumbling on golf courses and wildlife and not using your car, makes this the only way we like to travel when we are at Whistler. Especially in the summer!

First time walking the trail and it did not disappoint. The fall colours were amazing and a fresh light dusting of snow on the mountain top only added to the beauty. Trail is well marked and lots of little of shoots to walk closer to the lake.

A great network of trails allowing you to see the 4/5 lakes around Whistler. We had hired e-bikes and throughly enjoyed the trail ride. Great scenery on the way round as well. All in all it was about 25km that we cycled with a pit stop at The Whistler Golf Club for some refreshments. The trails are well signposted and marked. A great 2/3 hour activity..

Plenty of trails to hike or bike. In 2004, we rented bicycles and explored the valley. In our recent trip, we walked around Lost Lake.
The Lost Lake trail takes you along the famous Fairmount Chateau golf course. Then it winds around picturesque Lost Lake. We found ourselves mostly “alone” and few bikers.
If you are around Lost Lake in late July and the beginning of August, you have a good chance of seeing migrating Western toads. Several roads are closed to protect the little toadlets. It is estimated that on any given trail there could be as many as 1800 little toadlets hopping along per hour. It is fascinating to watch.

Advised about this trail by the hotel. The trail is a path so suitable for prams. It is mainly through woodland so you would probably get a fair amount of shelter should it be raining/snowing and there are no significant hills.
There are plenty of places to stop and eat a picnic but we didn't notice anywhere to stop and get a drink/food (maybe just didn't see them). There are places to go bathing should the weather be right or should you be of a hardy soul.
I think there is a possibility of seeing wildlife but we didn't unfortunately. There were signs to make you aware that it is bear country and we did speak to others who had come across black bears on their trek on different days. Nature is unpredictable and unreliable from that perspective.
Great way to spend hours in the fresh air.

The Whistler Valley trail is really a huge network of connected trails that go all through the valley. It has well-marked signage along the various routes and although you can end up going in a direction you did not want to go, you can't really get lost.
One easy route we love that takes about one hour by bike, is to start at the entrance by the Whistler Golf Clubhouse and head towards Rainbow Park, just keep going following the signs, past the Jack Nicholaus golf course, lakes and finally head back into Whistler Village.
We took a trail map with us, but ended up not needing to refer to it at all because it is pretty obvious where you are heading.
There are lots of walkers, bikers, dogs on this trail so stay on your side of the path. Any hotel staff or local residents can give you tips about which sections are fun to bike.

A great and easy trails system that interconnect with many strenuous trails heads.
Perfect for jogging, walking, cycling or dog walking up to 15 miles loop.

My wife and I walked from our hotel through the lower and upper village and then on the alpine trail down around Lost Lake and back. The trail was nice and wide and there was little elevation change so it was very easy. We walked about 14KM's total but it did not seem like it. There are plenty of signs with maps and we also had a map from our hotel. I also carried a GPS which helped us pick the many different trails to choose from. We were fortunate that the weather was great and it was not a very busy time of season. Highly recommend these trails.

Looking to visit mid April, should we be wary of bears on this trail?
Written 27 November 2019
You might encounter bears anywhere in and around Whistler. Anyhow, they are black bears and while I saw a few over the years, including one on the Valley Trail, there is nothing to worry if you leave them alone and follow the rules.

Are there any Sequoia trees here in this trail/area?
Thank you!
Written 31 January 2019
No, there are not. Sequoias are very fussy about where they grow so only a few places have them (Like California for example, but only in small areas relatively). Interestingly, there was a type of sequoia in Sichuan province in China that became extinct, but had seeds gathered by a biology professor who planted them on the campus of UC Berkeley so they are still flourishing.

Is there an address? how can I get here with a car and is there parking?
Written 6 August 2017
Yes, there are parking and the trails go all over Whistler area. You can even start from the parking area.
Written 6 August 2017
Hi there,
The trail has three sections so it can be as short or long as you like. All three are loop walks so you end up back where you started. Easy walking or cycling if you prefer - we hired cycles in Whistler village and did all three in about four hours with a stop for lunch at the half-way house on Whistler Golf Course.
