I grew up in New Jersey in the US, which is sometimes called the "Crossroads of the American Revolution." Imagine my surprise when I came for the first time to Saint John and discover that this is where many Loyalist refugees fled following the American Revolution. King's Square was founded in 1785 in honor of King George III. This is so very fascinating, and the square has some gorgeous features.

This was a nice resting spot at the top of the hill in the city with benches to sit on, lots of flowers and very friendly squirrels and pigeons

This is across the street from the city market. We walked around a bit, but it was a cold damp day, with the drizzle turning to rain when we arrived. Sadly several of the gorgeous old trees had been severely damaged by the recent hurricane, but this is still obviously a great place to meet a friend, let kids play, or just relax.

Nice stroll around King's Square among fall foliage was refreshing duirng a Saint John all day bus tour. The square is directly across from one of the main attractions, Saint John Marketplace. I loved taking pictures of the beautiful fall leaves under a brilliant blue sky.
