Martello type towers were built as fortifications. This tower wasn't open at the time that we visited but it still had very good views when we climbed to the base of it. The gift shop had a lot of information and there was a volunteer there that gave us a lot of information. Very interesting!

The inside was not open for public due to renovations. A young lady at the reception was very nice and helpful. Amazing place to get good photos.

We were waiting to get in line for the ferry to Digby, NS and drove around and discovered this historic site. The museum charges for you to take a tour, so we didn't go, since additionally the actual tower wasn't open, however, you can walk the grounds and get some nice pictures of St. John. Some information about the history... More

They have washrooms on location here. There is a parking lot for the busses for the cruise ship people as well as smaller vehicles. You have to pay a fee to walk up and see the tower which has a great view of the harbour. It was under $10 for a family or around $2 per person. Maybe even less... More

We went there when it wasn't open - but even then it was great to see the piece of history in person.

This tower is under reconstruction, so you won't be able to go inside, was told it will take two years. Skip it.

Not a whole lot to see as you cannot go inside, but there are some plaques to read. Good vantage point for a view of the harbour.

During my visit the actual tower was closed for a renovation project, and it is likely to be so for some time. However the presentation and display in the center located below the tower itself is excellent. There is a video which is clearly aimed at younger age groups with a person taking on many period characters. In my opinion... More

I've visited the tower a couple of times but have yet to go inside. There is construction going on right now so they have a fence all around the tower. Once there, you have a great view of Saint John which is really nice at night.
