Take the time to learn about the rich history of this site. I am fortunate to have local friends that were willing to take me there and chat about all the interesting facts about the site and surrounding areas. We actually ended up chatting for 20 minutws with an Irish tourist about the similarities between Newfoundland and Ireland. That is... More

Everyone should either hike up the hill or drive if you're disinclined to make the hike - but everyone should go to enjoy the view, the stunning vista of the ocean and, at the right time of the year, the whales and ice bergs will float by for your amusement. We didn't see any ice bergs, we did see minke... More

We were so lucky to walk these trails on a clear(ish) day (there was a fog rolling in). We walked from downtown and it didn't take very long. It is all up hill on the way there and the views are stunning. There are great signs explaining the history and we were very lucky to see some whales getting air... More

Beautiful view and excellent hiking trails. Leave your car at the parking lot at the bottom of the hill and walk up, check out Cabot Tower, then continue on the hiking trails. Wonderful photo ops! And it's only 5 minutes out of the city!

The position of this military establishment is very obvious when you see it. It protects the mouth of the harbour into St John's and can see many miles out to sea. The climb to the top of the tower is well worth it.

Breathtaking view, awesome trails around the hill - literally something for everyone. Enjoy Shakespeare by the Sea at the visitors centre along with a bite to eat at the chocolate Cafe.

This is absolutely a must visit. I've been to St. John's twice and I must have visited here 2-3 times on every trip. It has something for everyone, an absolutely fantastic view of the harbor, the city, the ocean, Cape Spear, whales, you name it. You can walk up, you can drive up and if you are adventurous, you can... More

This should be a stop for anybody visiting St. John's. The views of the city are second to none and also a great spot for some hiking along the cliffs.

Lots of walking trails with ocean and city views. Dress warm as it's quite windy! And visit the gift shop for some cute gifts!
