Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This trail around the Frame lake is quite lovely and retain a bit of the wild at the same time that connects with the city. You can walk the whole trail in an afternoon with a relax pace (3hr-4hr) Starting from the Legislative Assembly Building there is a a parking lot that doesn't look too much like an entrance for the trail but is there. I really like the views and the change on the landscape.

I enjoyed my walk around the lake. It is pretty well marked so you can't get lost. There is one side that is challenging as you need to climb over rocks, butI am not young and I did fine. Also a part of the paths were flooded which was more of a challenge. The views are great as you walk around the lake. It took a few hours to make it all the way around with stops in between for photography.

My wife and I walked this trail from the hospital to the Heritage Centre and Visitors centre. Great views across the water to rock islands, pines and white birch trees.

This trail is nice to walk on. It offers a pathed trail around the city with woods and lake surroundings. The only downfall is that it is not safe to travel alone or at night. There have been many attacks along this trail as well as the occational person "camping" out.

We used the trail to get to the shopping centre at the other side of the lake but it turned out the trail was the highlight. Quite an energetic walk as there are lots of rocks to cross and its quite a way around but worth the effort. Met lots of locals exercising themselves and dogs so there was much dog patting and conversation as well as fresh air

Came out of the legislature, asked where the trailhead was and how long to do the trail - he said about 20 minutes. It was closer to 2 hours in the knee deep snow and wind. The first half coming from the leg. was up and down, but the second half paved and well groomed. Beautiful in winter, likely the same under the snow.

We are visiting family in Yellowknife and have spent many enjoyable hours walking the trail along Frame Lake. Lots of waterfowl throughout the lake and some great scenery. The trails are accessible for everyone.

I am a resident and hike, run, ski, and snowshoe the trail. South side is paved and suitable for cycling. North side meanders through taiga forest with interesting vegetation and wildlife. Good location for birdwatchers in the summer. Be aware of others on the trail.

This trail is about half paved and goes through a bit of downtown and out to the hospital. The whole walk goes around the lake with nice views a lot of the time. The paved part is very easy walking/meandering. However when you get to the end of the paved trail, there is no signage to tell you to climb on the large rocks and follow the orange pilons. We were lost and asked someone and he explained it to us. There is a map but if you don't know you are moving onto the rocks and the orange pilons are the markers, you keep looking for the paved trail to start again. We did the whole loop and climbing over the rocks are not for those looking for an afternoon stroll. If you are looking for a light to moderate hike, it's pretty fun and unique.

On the Frame Lake Trail you’ll come across the Fireweed Studio. The studio is open on a Saturday and during the Tuesday market when I visited. The gallery has a range of locally made arts and crafts and they are exceptionally well priced. Apparently this is because many of the items are made by people as a hobby rather than purely for profit. This isn’t to say the resulting articles are not good, far from it, but it does mean you can buy a unique piece of local art or craft without a hefty price tag. It’s just a shame they aren’t open more frequently. Choosing what you like the most will be the hardest part.
