Well preserved

An interesting historic site with a display in the surviving building then a pleasant stroll round the grounds.

Sod embankments do not a fort make! You can wander around the grounds, maybe take a picnic. Sit down on the grass and enjoy the view as it is beautiful, but other than one building located here there is nothing to see. If there weren't signs telling me this was a fort I would have concluded this to be a... More

The site is well maintained and the candlelight grave walk was the most exciting part of the whole visit. There are picnic tables to enjoy a family picnic.

A wonderful display of tapestries and artefacts in the museum and a lovely walk around the outskirts of the fort to see some of the early dyke works the original settlers made, still in use.

The museum at Fort Anne is small, though interesting. The real attraction is the star-shaped earthwork fortification. Save this for a sunny day and walk the outdoor paths. The walking tour is outlined in the brochure. You won't be disappointed. Fascinating history, lovely water views, fun walks on the grassy hills, peaceful places to sit and take it all in.

The grounds were clean and well kept. A lot of up and down walking but thats what you would expect from this type of military fort. Great history lesson.

Didn't get to spend a lot of time here due to prior commitment but a return visit is a definite plan. Beautiful property with a lot of interesting history....next time will be a picnic and a tour......

The fort is interesting to explore. Children would love the open, grassy spaces and the underground store rooms. The museum is well worth the small entrance fee. The town itself is full of interesting places. We particularly enjoyed the Sinclair Inn. The host was enthusiastic and full of information -- if you ask! He demonstrated how he crafted old tools... We enjoyed our walk through the grounds of Fort Anne, but we would have enjoyed it more if the buildings were open! We found it very strange that everything was closed on Labour Day--as far as I know, most Canadian national historic sites and parks are open on holidays during the summer to take advantage of the large number of...
