This museum is a fountain of information on the controversial mining era back in the early 20 century. It opens your eyes to the lifestyle, hardships and union development. Very interesting and a must see if you are in the area.

This was our first visit. My husband loves this kind of stuff so we decided to drop in. Fairly cheap and well done. Lots of boats, and artifacts. They also had an exhibition on a boat accident in Halifax, which I thought was very informative. My husband also received a "certificate" for his Morse code proficiency, which was pretty funny.... This museum is jam-packed with everything you could possibly want to know about ships, the maritimes, Halifax, sailing, etc. There's something for everyone here, whether it is the Halifax explosion, ancient ship masts, stories of shipwrecks, some information on the Titanic, and even more! I was incredibly impressed with how much history and how many artifacts are in this museum.... More

This is an excellent museum about the maritime history of Nova Scotia, with many very good displays. It is in a good location on the waterfront.

The museum itself has a lot to offer, with artifacts,. historical info, old photos, etc. But included in the admission price for the museum is a tour of an old (Coast Guard?) ship, which provides firsthand experience of size, accommodations, communications, maps, etc. Staff is great here, both inside and on the ship!

The Titanic and Halifax Explosion exhibits were very informative. Dozens of superb model ships and boats. The history of Cunard and his company was very interesting. Interesting section on sail. Well worth a three hour visit!

Do not leave Halifax without visiting the maritime museum. So much rich history to learn about here. The guides are bursting with information to share about the Mariners of Nova Scotia and Nova Scotia's rich heritage.

We spent a few housr the on the recommendation of Paul our tour guide. It was a great way to learn more about the Explosion and the Titanic. We watch the two videos he suggested and then wandered around to learn more about the history of the Maritimes.
