A rare and fine example in Canada of Italianate villa architecture, Bellevue was home to Sir John A. Macdonald, Canada's first prime minister. Today, the house is a national historic site, commemorating Macdonald's contribution to the development of Canada. This is worth a visit. It was the home of Canada's first prime minister and is filled with furniture and artefacts of the day. Our guide Monica was very knowledgable and personable. If you are interested in history it is worth a visit

Our guide was very knowledgeable of the history of this old house. Very informative giving you a glimpse of how life used to be for John A McDonald and his family. The house needs repair.

The guided tour was v worthwhile. We had a delightful student actor called Marley who really knew her subject was enthusiastic and entertaining and wouldn't/couldn't take a tip! I'd recommend the guided tour as you get lots of background info and an appreciation of the...More

This place needs some serious help to save it from the ravages of poor maintenance and time. The musty smell was overwhelming and the rotting windows sills need repair before they fall off. The lighting was terrible also. Skip this place.

If you visit this this historical house, you better take the guided tour! Seriously, we were on our tour with an excellent guide and here comes these random goofs who have no idea what they are looking at, just wandering through the house and then...More

Sir John A only lived in this house for 11 months so I found it quite curious that a big deal is made over not much. Sir John A spent more time in the bars around Kingston than he did in this house.

Our first time at Bellevue House, had a great visit. The exhibits offer a picture of John A's life in his early career, very interesting. The property is managed by Parks Canada so it was a free visit this year, plus free parking right across...More

I'm sorry, I don't know the answer to that. We went during the summer and it was open daily then. Perhaps you could call them. Good luck!
