- Mary JCampbell River, Canada8 contributionsFun tour at Peller Estates WineryLilah gave a very informative and interesting tour explaining the history, the kind of wines that are made and the connection to the Peller winery in BC. We tasted sparkling wine, a white, a red and then visited the ice wine bar where it is -10 degrees Celsius to sample the delicious ice wine. There was time to browse and shop in the boutique store. Lilah was knowledgeable and fun to be with. Lovely way to spend the afternoon!Hi Mary, thank you for your review! The staff made it a magical experience from start to finish, and it was just the special experience I had hoped it would be. The service was top notch from start to finish, the food was exquisite, and the wine was a perfect complement. Everyone in our group of six thoroughly enjoyed the evening, and I can't thank the servers and kitchen staff enough. - arubaphilKinnelon, New Jersey667 contributionsSophisticated WineryOn our way to our hotel in Niagara on the Lake, my wife and I stopped for lunch at Peller Estates Winery. Peller is an impressive property with a vast vineyard, visitor's center, tasting room and restaurant. The restaurant has a large outdoor seating area. We ordered truffle fries, a beet salad and a flat bread to share for lunch. We also ordered sangria and an excellent cabernet franc. Peller is a great choice for wine tasting and a good meal.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 13 June 2024

Just for context we have a few people in our group that don't really drink wine but wanted to do the tour. Our tour guide Chelsea was fantastic, informative, funny, friendly and made our experience great. She even gave very tiny pours to those that really only wanted a little sip. Loved how we were able to see where the wine barrels are stored, see the vineyards and my favorite part was the ice lounge. Such a fun experience! We would highly recommend this tour.Hello Travelbugsforlige Thanks for the amazing review and I'm glad to know you that you think our tour is great lol. - Andrew S2 contributionsWould recommend the greatest winery tourWe did a wine tour around Niagara on the Lake to a bunch of different wineries but Peller was our favorite. We did the greatest winery tour with Sophie who was very knowledgeable and made the tour funny and engaging unlike some of the other places we visited. Very impressive for how young she was! Was good value too given we had 4 samples of wine and got to see the ice room and vineyards. The staff in the store were also very nice and we left with some icewine.Hello C4772JDandrews Thanks for the amazing review. Hopefully you will come back and join us for a tasting! Cheers! My husband and I have been members at Peller for some time now after falling in love with it. This weekend I was able to take 3 of my girl friends up for a “Girls Weekend”. I was so excited to take them to Peller and show them the home of so many of the wines they have enjoyed with me at home.
Needless to say I was embarrassed. The tour (that I have done countless times) had 23 people in it! 23! While Heather did a fantastic job handling a group this large it was just cumbersome and not at all enjoyable. I made reservations weeks in advance only to see that it was clearly a waste because you can just show up and be added to a tour no matter the size of the group. I’m sorry, but what is the cut off point?! I also scheduled for a tasting in the estate room so my friends and I could sample and relax after walking all day. I was told that our guide would take us aside after the tour and take us to the estate room. Not the case! Instead we repeatedly had to be told that there was no room for us and we would have to wait five more minutes. This happened twice ( with a really rude girl at the front desk, may I add). Mind you, people are walking up to the room without asking. The third time I went to the front desk to ask if there was room for us I was greeted by a different young lady (the Rude one had left) who made it so we could go up but there was only standing room but there would be a chair and water for my pregnant friend. While I was not happy with the experience I appreciated her effort.
One of my friends was able to stay with me for another day and we had dinner at the restaurant Even after the disastrous experience so far. I had made reservations and had hoped that the dining experience would make up for the embarrassment so far. Our waiter was a gentleman I have had several other times there and always adore him. His helper on the other hand seemed to continue the horrid Peller experience by removing all of our silverware after the first course, leaving us none for the main. We awkwardly sat there till someone came by to provide us with silverware. Then before we were done with our mains and the bread we hoped to finish with our remaining glasses of wine the young lady came by again and cleared everything without saying a word, leaving us with wine and nothing to pair it with.
Will I come back to Peller? Of course! But I am utterly embarrassed by this experience. What is the point of making reservations when it was clearly exhibited that it is not necessary to secure a spot. This was not the personal Peller experience that I fell in love with years ago! Where is the cutoff point or is this place willing to sacrifice a pleasurable guest experience for money? This was suppose to be a fun relaxing girls weekend and instead I was riddled with anxiety and embarrassment. I hope this is not the case the next time we visit or my husband and I will seriously have to consider withdrawing our membership.

I have mixed feelings about this winery. First of all, it is stunning. The grounds are beautiful and walking around was great. I booked the tour for my husband and I and we got to taste 4 wine types while walking to the vineyard then into the cellar then into the ice room. Paul was our guide and I liked his vibe and he was super knowledgeable. But then in the cellar he started to sell the wine club to us which I thought was really out of place considering we had paid so much already to just go on the tour. Clearly this is part of his job that he is forced to do, but I found it really impersonal and commercial at that point and it left me feeling really annoyed. We had a bite to eat at the grill and that was good. The scenery was amazing while we sat out and ate. Then we went for a tasting and again, got targeted to join the wine club for a second time. We are now already members so this was even more aggravating. This winery needs to go back to the basics of showing the love for wine and the art that goes into making it. At this point it just feels like an arrogant, money grabbing machine. Which is disappointing.

So due to Covid we now have to reserve wine tastings, which I completely understand. But when you have to reserve tastings for multiple locations you are on a time limit. I brought family from Ottawa to experience our Niagara on the Lake wineries and we were very disappointed with the service. We were told to wait to be seated which ran into our tasting time and we were 10 minutes early. We then sat down at a table and waited another 10 minutes before someone greeted us. We were given a selection of wines to try and not told or explained any of them. We were served our wine and that was it. Also, we were interrupted just to be sold on purchasing a wine club membership not once but twice. Overall, it was disappointing and this was at both Peller and Trius. Service could be improved at both.

Our group of five visited Peller Estates as part of a Niagara on the Lake wine tour. We were merged with about 8 other people, outdoors, where we were required to stand: it was in the mid 30s, sunny and sweltering. Not pleasant. After about half an hour and two samplings, we entered the cellar where the guide continued for about another 20 minutes. Still no seats or water were offered. The fourth stop was the igloo room, which was unique. However, it was freezing inside and although parkas were hanging outside the room we were advised that they weren’t clean so we shouldn’t put them on. Needless to say, our visit into the “igloo” was hasty!
Throughout the entire duration (about an hour) our guide took his job very seriously. It was more like a dull lecture, void of humour and not engaging. We were all indifferent to the samplings as the experience was just not pleasant and paled considerably compared to the other wineries on our tour. I, for one, would not return.

3 years ago, my husband and I had the Great winery tour. @$35 .We really enjoyed it. We are wine lovers with a cellar at home. During that tour, we had the ice cuvee, the sauvignon estate serie, merlot estate serie and vidal ice wine. The quality of the wines tasted was what we were looking for. We were not there to taste their entry level wines. We had the opportunity after our tour to taste a few Signature series wines which resulted to be members of the Winemaker club. This week , brought some friends, wine lovers, cellar owners and first visit to NOL. We were excited to do the Great winery tour @ $39 with them based on our previous experience. For us it was a great introduction .Our host was Peter. He was very knowledgeable and funny. It was a rainy day, so the whole tour was inside (which was ok)
We have the ice cuvee, don’t really remember the white wine, either gewurstraminer or pinot grigio, merlot and vidal ice wine. We were disappointed and asked why there is no signature wine to taste in the tour. Couldn’t answer us. All the wines were served in Inao glass.
The tour was ok but the wines (white and red) were entry level. Maybe they should offer the same tour with the option signature serie wine (but for almost the same price, this is what we got 3 years ago). We could do a seated tasting but it was a tour that we wanted to do based on our experience.
All of this to say that if the signature series wasn’t included in our tour 3 years ago, we wouldn’t buy wine. We wouldn’t be member of their wine club for 2 years .
I give 4* for the tour but 3* for the wines

I'm reviewing the wine tasting experience. When you book this experience on their website, it comes up as free. They don't tell you until you are seated that all you really booked was a table at their outdoor wine bar. You select your wine flight(s) from the menu, $28 -$35, and they are delivered by the restaurant server, who rambles through a brief description of each. To top it off, with the exception of the ice wine, the wines are very simple and generally lack any finish. The only redeeming feature of the experience is the scenic vineyard view from the wine bar patio.

Had a sit down in an upstairs room for a tasting. Expensive - $20 per person for 3 small serving glasses of wine (your choice of wines from a menu). Very generic and lacked the personal touches of other wineries in the area. Seemed that they weren't interested in you if you weren't a wine club member.
Good wine, we bought 2 bottles, but there are better tastings and tours in the area.

We visited peller estates for a wine tour on a rainy Wednesday morning. Our guide Tyler started us off with some very interesting facts about the history of the estate, the origin of the winemaker and kept the whole tour funny and entertaining. We enjoyed walking on the grounds of the estate, checking out the vines and the cellar. But my favorite part of the tour was the ice lounge!!! Apparently they used to provide you with goose jackets before entering the -10 degree lounge before the pandemic but they don't anymore. So it was a little chilly to go in there in capris and a t-shirt but was well worth it. We had a great time, sampled some awesome wines and brought quite a few bottles home too.Highly recommend

My husband and I toured this winery on our trip to Niagara Falls. Our tour guide Bob was excellent! He was very informative and willing to answer any questions. Their selection of wine was very good. The 10 below ice bar was AMAZING!!!! If you choose to buy any wine after the tour you get a discount for doing the tour. The estate is beautiful!

Highly recommend the Winter Luxe Lounge experience during the colder months - light lunch/charcutarie was provided with house-made marshmallows that you could roast over a fire pit! And of course, they offered wine and other beverages. There was a group of 5 of us for a bachelorette party and the bride said it was her favorite part of the day! Staff were also very accommodating.
Our bachelorette party of 5 had a great experience with the Greatest Winery tour. Our guide Paul G. was very knowledgeable, funny, friendly, and accommodating of guests needs. We were very lucky to have him as our guide! We got to sample wines, learn about the process of wine making, tour the grounds, and the coolest part (no pun intended) was the ice wine room!

How much is a wine tour & do they offer a cheese board? And is it the same price for a group?

Sorry, forgot to mention that the food there was excellent, 1st class more than cheese bits you will enjoy it, figure food, etc.

You can taste the wines at the bar, but I don’t remember them having food at the bar. And it’s only standing so no relaxing, but they have a great outside lounge/bar area where you can probably do both.

Is the only way to visit the ice bar through a tour?
Written 27 April 2019
I believe so. But you would want to call and confirm. Ps. Based on my experience, you will not have an enjoyable tour if you book it during the same date as an event. They seem to be very disorganized during these times and you will need to reuse the same glass for each wine tasting and you will miss out on key views and locations for wine tasting. I was very disappointed this past weekend as they were having the party in the vineyard during my tour and we only got five minutes in the ice lounge

can I just turn up from the street with out booking ,,and how much will it cost $30 or $15 and where can I find time of tours in July
Written 21 April 2019
You should do a reservation I guess.. because there is an specific number of people on the tour. I don’t remember how much it was, but I’m sure that was more than $ 30. Probably something near $50.

I would like to know the Greatest winery tour, should I have to book on-line previously? Or could I join the tour and pay the price(CAD$30) when I arrive? Thank you.
Written 18 May 2018
Hi Catter, you are more than welcome to walk in and pay the tour fee once you arrive to the estate, but we cannot guarantee that spots will be available for the desired time slot. If you book in advance online or via phone and pre-pay, your spot will be reserved.
