We could see every rooms with two people due to COVIT with the guide.
Outside there were lots of flowers, so gorgeous.
Because of COVIT we can have two people looking from the outside in the room
We learned a lot.
This is a beautiful house in this time.
The house was built in 1800
I learned a lot here!
A must see!
He loved books.
By the wat the floor is blue.
There were lots of lights.
The table was always ready for tea.
There is a picture of him.
They had kuds and they had fun!

It might not look very spectacular now, but this house was quite the place when it was built. Interesting story of a local citizen who did well for himself, until the War of 1812. Tour guide that we had was very good, and brought history to life. If you're into historical places and houses, worth the half hour.

A Taste of History, a Sip of Tea. A garden of herbs and bright canary, scarlet and purple flowers greeted us as we walked toward a 19th century adventure, a cup of tea and just-baked scones with current jelly and fresh whipped cream.
Afternoon tea includes choice of tea/coffee or soft drink, and an assortment of homemade, fresh-baked pastries. Enjoy a selection of finger sandwiches, homemade scones, and homemade fresh sweets. Choose from 37 types of premium tea, homemade iced teas, homemade lemonade, and fresh brewed coffee. The McFarland House Tea Room is also licensed with a lovely wine list.
Here, period-dressed waitresses, kitchen staff and tour guides help bring to life the world of Scottish-born John McFarland, his wife and their nine children.
The house’s association with the War of 1812 and its use as headquarters for British Officers, the location of British and American Artillery battalions protecting the Niagara River and a field hospital for American and British solders. There are tour that can be taken to visit the House. but we entered through a small kitchen and gift shop where tea, delicate China cups and saucers, and finely painted teapots are lined up on bookcases, smells of chocolate, spice and honey mingle with the flower-scented summer air, to enter the Tea Room, and enjoy what we were there for, our afternoon Tee, an experience to no miss

My boyfriend and i recently won a packet of vouchers for activities in the Buffalo Niagara Region, so we decided to drive up from our home in Buffalo to use the Niagara Parks Passes we won.
Our third stop of the day was to the McFarland House. We had tea/lunch in the Tea Room. It was wonderful. I highly recommend it. We ordered the "Afternoon Tea", a cheese plate, and a sandwich sampler. It was more than enough to feed 2 people. The "afternoon tea" came with 4 different sandwich triangles, 3 scones, a cupcake, a blondie, some fruit and a blueberry cake, along with some tea. I ordered the Bourbon Street Vanilla tea and my boyfriend got the Niagara Peach. Both were very delicious. The cheese plate came with 3 different cheeses, fruit, an assortment of crackers and some ice wine jelly. The sandwich sampler came with more of the same sandwiches on the afternoon tea platter, but we were glad for the extras, so we could each try 1 of the four variations. It was really lovely to sit in the green house in the afternoon sun sipping tea and watching the people go by. The food was wonderful, and the staff was great. I highly recommend stopping in for tea and cakes if you're visiting the area.
Afterwards we used our passes for the tour. Following the theme of the day we got another private tour. The young woman who was our tour guide was a great! She had so much information and you could tell she really loved history and sharing her knowledge with us.
The house is beautifully decorated and she had so much information not only about the people who lived in the house, and the time period but almost every item within the rooms. It took about 30 minutes and I really enjoyed myself.
I would recommend both the Tea Room and a tour of the house to anyone heading up to the Niagara Parks/Niagara on the Lake region.

We came for tea and scones, but when we walked in I could smell this wonderful curry smell. The soup of the day was a carrot curry soup, and after smelling it I just had to have some. It did not disappoint! Of course, I had to have my scone too -- pear spice scone served with whipped cream and black currant jam. Also delicious. There was a large selection of tea flavors. I had the papaya sunflower green tea, which was served in a French press. Yummy, just like the food. And to top it all off, the setting was lovely. The dining room was in a glass sunroom with a pretty view of the grounds outside.

This lovely home is open for tours but the really nice surprise is the lovely little teahouse/greenhouse restaurant for a great lunch and tea. The menu is simple but the food is great.

I went there for afternoon tea. Delicious! You dine in a conservatory that overlooks the parkland. The staff are very knowledgeable
and extremely friendly. for a small sum you can take a tour of the house, well worth it. I love the way the artifacts are displayed. I don't think I imagined it but I did feel a presence when I took the tour (a friendly one)

If you're into 1812 history McFarland House is an interesting spot to visit. Its one of the few Pre1812 buildings remaining in the Niagara On The Lake area, so if you're curious about that time period the house tour is worth taking. It 's on the parkway and cycle trail, with plenty of green space around, nice grounds for a picnic. They've also set up a small heritage potager garden, very colorful when I visited. Best of all is the Tea Room which recently under went an expansion, and redecoration. I really enjoyed my afternoon tea, it was delicious. The assorted finger sandwiches, cakes, etc., was a bit too much for one person. Fortunately they let me take the leftovers home! Yum!!

I have often wanted to stop in at McFarland House when touring the Niagara region but in 5 visits only found it open once. It was a very nice experience - I topped for tea mid-afternoon and had a wonderfully gigantuous blueberry scone along with it. The place is beautifully decorated and the staff very courteous, though I found the prices a bit high. Nice little gift shop as well.

The service and food is amazing here. We are local farmers and enjoy riding our bikes over there to enjoy their wonderful teas and snacks. They even dress in old fashioned dresses! Great place to visit the next time you're here in Niagara-on-the-Lake. We always leave here satisfied.

I'm not sure when it opens, but we went at 12:15. They start the tours once an hour at a quarter after the hour. So I would come near when the tour starts. The tea room was also open them as well.

What time is tea served? Are reservations required? What is the charge for the tea plus a tour of the house?
