Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Major's Hill Park is a beautiful green and colourful area in Ottawa. We walked around, sat down for a while to have a rest and enjoyed the sights. It's a wonderful part of the city and worth visiting.

This is the best place to get a view of parliament at sunset. Especially in fall as the leaves go orange, yellow and red.

This is a fabulous and very popular park. During Tulip Festival, it is filled with flowers and the views are spectacular. A photo of the Basilica of Notre Dame with the tulip beds in the foreground is worth a long walk to Major's Hill.
But you don't have to walk! Practically across the street is the National Gallery, and public parking below the gallery is very accessible and cheaper than it is some other places.
The vista of the Ottawa River, Parliament Hill, and the Supreme Court building on the west side of the park is made for photos, and a great place for a memorable shot of your visit to the city.
As you walk back to Rideau Street on the north side of the park, you can take the pedestrian courtyard between the Chateau Laurier Hotel (itself a Canadian landmark) and the Rideau Canal, which is also worth a long visit.
During lunch hour, Major's Hill is a great place to sit on the grass on a blanket and eat a picnic. Many people spend time there playing Frisbee, reading, talking, or sunning themselves. (Beware, though--women are not required to wear tops in Ottawa.)
Don't leave our city without spending at least some time in this great space--and be sure to visit some of our other wonderful parks, as well. There are dozens from which to choose!

Go there to see the sunset! It's beautiful! And you can take beautiful pictures of the Parliament and Canal Rideau. It's impressively quiet considering the location near downtown.

The park is lovely and spacious on the sunny days but at the northern tip are the best free washrooms in Ottawa. Great views from the park

Amazing park very well maintained, with beautiful views to the river, islands, bridges and a very nice tavern. A space just to relax, walk, take pictures and enjoy!

Great place to soak in the sun and grab a drink at the Tavern on the Hill. Major Hill Park embraces the capital vibe with its peacefulness and landscape.

Out towards the promontory (or the Tavern on the Hill) from the Chateau Laurier past the canal. Great for people-watching.
