Lots of locks

Manual locks are so cool. You can crank them yourself too. Gears do all the work. Water rushes in and out.

I saw these one year in the summer and now in the winter and they are really worth going to see! The view of the locks and parliament buildings were great!

We walked along the Ottawa River and ended our walk at the Locks before heading up to the city again. Highly recommend this walk.

Nice place to visit. You can get up close to the locks and see how they work. Quite a few stairs down to it but is worth it.

I like the setting, the lovely walking area and also to marvel at the job done by those that established this all those years ago - giving us this lovely waterway and landmark now

Great view of the river and lake. Interesting part of the town history. Walking or riding a bike is a good way to visit.

They provided a link from the canal to the Ottawa River for smaller pleasure craft and it was interesting to see them moving up and down the series of about 8 locks. It was scenic walk along either side of the locks to the river.

i think it's best to visit this in the summer when you can see the locks in action. there are two visitor information areas with washrooms and vending machines for snacks. you can get close to the locks and see how they operate, if you are going to see it in operation plan for 30-45 minutes because it takes some... In the summer the Ottawa locks are a busy and fun place to be. Since these are still functioning locks, during the summer many pleasure boats go up and down the locks all day long. It's a pretty amazing thing to watch, and there are plenty of nice place to stand (or sit) and watch it happen. The area around... More
