This site features two stone houses from the 1800's. We had a local expert explain the history, customs and lifestyles of the early settlers. The staff here are friendly, very well informed. A great place to learn about early living in the area.

Small historical site packed with history of Sault Ste Marie, War of 1812, and fur trading. Beautiful grounds and nice museum too.

Great historic centre which provides a lot of details on the story of Sault Ste Marie, the War of 1812 and the lives of traders and industrialists on the frontier. The house is beautiful and the gardens too. Would highly recommend and is only steps...More

Spent an hour or so here with my kids. The movie was good and informative...a good way to start as it gives the full significance of the houses. Displays were informative and some nice interactive pieces for kids. Enjoyed the dress up clothes. Student staff...More

The visitors center has a good movie about the original inhabitants of the Sault and what there life was like. The house and the blockhouse have nice displays of the living conditions the early residents experienced. The best time to visit is in the summer...More
