Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent world class museum with emphasis on the local development of Timmins. Helpful friendly staff. There was also an interesting touring exhibition focusing on the Indigenous Peoples of Quebec

It was great to learn about the history of Timmins. It was well presented as you walked through the museum with plaques and authentic items from the past.
I would recommend going to learn more about the area!

We need a local museum, the one here is very poor & not worth dropping in. It is a federal musium. It has nothing to do with Timmins. There is a small gift shop at the entrance, it is very nice but the rest...not worth going.

We stopped by here to get more information about the town. My husband wanted directions to the Timmins Memorial Cemetary so we could see Bill Birilko's grave. The staff was helpful.
When we were there in July 2019, there was a wonderful exhibit of fabric art that I spent quite a bit of time looking over. I really enjoyed that.

We went to the museum with the kids so they could see the war models exposition during for Remembrance Day. The kids really enjoyed the exposition and then we visited the suffragette exposition. It was great being able to explain what the exposition was about to my young granddaughter. I would recommend it to friends and family. The gift shop has nice stuff

We wanted to know about the mines and what the city had to offer and the gal inside was very helpful - recommended the wilderness park to take the tour to feed the elk - best visit for $12! There is a hockey exhibit now but loved the mine history display!

I stopped in here one day after work. I was the only customer in there -3 employees were standing around talking about local hockey and no one even greeted me. No one spoke to me the entire time. The items were boring and with all the Canadian talent they barely feature anything local . The staff is not friendly and the products are just average.

Timmins museum is a wonderful place to go with you or your children, family or even friends to fill some time and learn a little as well. When I had my last visit there with my son, date may differ from below chosen, we had a great time and learned some interesting facts about the mining history in Timmins and surrounding area. Some of the exhibits were large sized pictures with the faces cut out so that we may put ours in their places and take pictures. Was an enjoyable moment with my son and the pictures turned out great. We also got to enjoy the whole exhibit free of charge. Being on a fixed income this is a great place to enjoy. Even when there are charges to see an exhibit they are usually very reasonable. The customer service is exceptional and they are willing to answer any of your questions related to each exhibit or for whats on sale in the museum. When in Timmins be sure to see whats being exhibited in the Museum and check out the programs being offered as well.

The museum has just is now reopen after a few months of closure due to major renovations. More renos will come as much of their material is still in temp storage. Currently they offer a great traveling exhibit prepared by the Bank of Canada etc through mid November 2017. Titled "Voices from the Engravers" this superb exhibit includes extremely rare Currency Notes, sheets, and stamps, as well as original print plates, all presented in professional and educational displays. Items included have at times never previously been shown and are priceless. Exhibits change regularly. They also have very interesting items within their gift shop.
