An impressive building with a tall tower and spire. A splendid, serene interior houses beautiful stained glass windows, which tell stories of the Bible and the history of the Christian church. On the rear wall of the cathedral is the pipe organ. Definitely worth a visit. It would be best on a Sunday if you wanted to hear the organ playing during a service!

This cathedral is small and rather cosy. Even I was quite surprised at the sweet welcome from the congregation, and the beautiful setting. It is surrounded with art and spirituality, and set in a wonderful garden and exciting neighborhood. My hotel was just across the square, so I stopped in often, and came to services as well.

It's wonderful, spiritual place, even for visitors. The fact that it was open was a marvel, but we don't know if it will continue to be with the COVID-19 restrictions. The light inside and architecture are beautiful. If you are in downtown Toronto and if this gorgeous place remains open, it should be a must-see!

St James Anglican Cathedral dates to the 1850s.At the time it was one of the largest buildings. Today it is still a beautiful building. Worth walking by and having a look.

The gardens that surround the church already welcome people with beauty and Peace at first sight. The raimbow flag welcomes adversity and shows open not only open mind but also open hearts. The outside would be enough to make you like the place. Inside the good energy adds good vibes. Although the place is known by a hard time dealing with colera sick people, going on their is a good thing tô do. Beautiful in and outside. Good place to visit.

This is a wonderful cathedral in Downtown Toronto. I was told that this is the most prestigious Anglican church in Toronto, and when the Queen comes to town, she goes there. I am not least bit religious but love to sit there and admire wonderful stained glass windows. They have a recital every Tuesday (free admission!), too. Whether you are a local or a visitor, this is a wonderful place to meditate or have some quiet moment with yourself.

You don't need to be religious to appreciate the architecture of the cathedral. It is truly a stunning edifice in the heart of Toronto. I have visited many European cathedrals, and St. James' rates up there with the best of them. best of all, there are no laity standing inside, expecting donations for the "roof" fund. Many Euro cathedrals have these people, or charge ADMISSION when there is no service being conducted. Thank goodness this doesn't happen at St. James!

I'm not really a religious person but I can't avoid admiring the structure of some churches. I went in a fairly cold weather so it was mostly deserted, so I had a good amount of time to enjoy it myself

On a self-guided walking tour of downtown Toronto, we passed by St. James Cathedral. The building is indeed beautiful, although it looks like it needs some renovation work. There were signs of significant wear all over the exterior.
One thing we noticed about the cathedral that we thought a completely heinous, shameful practice. Local dog walkers seem to make the cathedral grounds - as carefully manicured and lovely as they are - the focus of their walks, and allow their dogs to deposit their leavings everywhere, and do not clean up after themselves. Just disgusting, and in my opinion, completely disrespectful of this building and its institution. St. James Cathedral, and Toronto's Anglican community, deserves better.
