This is a haunted lighthouse!! Really cool spot to stop and take in some Toronto Island history. Would love to go inside but can't. Really liked this spot and a cool lighthouse.

The Gibraltar Point lighthouse on the Toronto Islands is the oldest lighthouse on the Great Lakes and is a pretty cool place for a visit. There is a plaque on it recounting its history and that it is believed to be haunted. One either has to takera ferry ofra water taxi to get to this lighthouse from the Toronto harbour. There are other points of interest nearby on those islands so it is well worth the trip. Ferries currently cost about CAD 8 to and fro and the water taxi is CAD 10. Best to go by water taxi and return by Ferry (no charge on return) so you get the best of both experiences.Plenty of cafes and pubs on the islands to grab a bite and beverage. Alcoholic drinks are also available. Taking you own picnic basket is more economical and beaches are quite safe to swim in most of the time, otherwise just sit and drench in the sun ! smile. smile! Very children friendly trip.

Lovely lighthouse

We were biking around the island and found it along the route. It was closed so we couldn't go inside it. There is a plaque explaining the historical aspect of the lighthouse. It was nice to get a few photos. Nice design, well maintained and the area around it is kept very clean.

Couldn't go inside

I like lighthouses so when I saw that there was one on Centre Island, I immediately wanted to visit it. We walked to it from the ferry dock, a bit of a jaunt but the day was nice & sunny. I was disappointed that we couldn't go inside

Summer trip to Toronto

Each summer when I am in Toronto I walk past the lighthouse going from Hanlon's Point to Center Island or Ward's Island. A nice walk when the weather is nice.

The lighthouse is haunted by Muller. It is his home.

I am a native Torontonian, and I can tell you that the lighthouse is haunted.I was raised in Toronto and my father and I would visit the lighthouse where I was encountered by a paranormal force, It was Muller. I am a rhneg, I sense these things. Very high energy area.

Hard to get in but worth it if you can

This is the second oldest lighthouse in Canada and Toronto's oldest building. If you are lucky there is a great ghost story associated with it and it is told well in a spooky location. A fun piece of history.

We visited the islands the first day they were open again. I really wanted to see the lighthouse but when we arrived the area around it was flooded. There was tape up so we couldn't go near it. Such a shame that we couldn't even get close to it. My photos all have bins in, I guess due to the floods and clearing so much rubbish and water away!

Cute lighthouse

You can't go inside unless it's open for a special occasion. Cute little lighthouse, just like the pictures. Easy to find and photograph. Relaxing and calm. It's a little bit of a walk from the ferry stops, but it's flat and near the beach. Supposedly haunted. First lighthouse I've been to that was inland not due to being relocated but because the shoreline increased. Quick pit stop if you're on the island.

A Toronto landmark

This is one of the iconic symbols of the Toronto Islands. It is the oldest existing lighthouse around entire Great Lakes. Lighthouse is a stone structure nicely built beginning of the 19th century. It is 25 m tall.
