Spring 2005, La Distillerie No.1 first saw the day in Montreal, at the corner of Ontario and Sanguinet streets, in the heart of the vibrant Latin Quarter. Founded on a unique concept with the help of a passionate team, La Distillerie sought to introduce its guests to the universe of cocktails. In order to reach more people, we opened two more establishments on the Plateau Mont-Royal and in Rosemont-La-Petite-Patrie. We aim to serve a high-quality product in a cozy and convivial atmosphere. Beyond preparing and serving cocktails, we want to create spaces where people can come together and connect, and where you can feel good regardless of your age, where you're from, and whether you've chosen to wear your jogging pants or your bowtie to go out. Whether it's your first or hundredth visit, it'll be a pleasure for us to make you a custom beverage, so don't hesitate to put us to the test!

We stopped by this bar last Monday night on our two-night visit to Montreal. What a great place! We were the only ones there when we arrived, so sat at the bar and chatted to the very friendly bartender, Oliver (Ollie). This bar is very inviting and has a great atmosphere. But the drinks! Some of the best cocktails (if... More

Love the authentic cocktails that can't be found elsewhere. I travel to Montreal once per year mostly for this bar. Other restaurants and shopping compliment my trip. Often I sit at the bar and have wonderful conversations with the staff. Highly recommend to try a few of the cocktails though. One is not enough. Goldfish are a tasty snack to... More

First trip to Montreal and this was our first stop. Very excited to find that "happy hour" was more than an hour and took place on both Friday and Saturday. This meant we enjoyed a few giant mason jar drinks at a really reasonable price. The staff was very friendly and helpful with drink recommendations, nearby food recommendations, and directions.... Such a cute local type of bar. There are games like Jenga, Uno, and Would you rather to play. Bartenders mix up drinks based on your favorite ingredients. You get free gold fish. There they don't serve food. Definitely will return when I am back in Montreal.

Checked the place out with my family and it's awesome. The staff are so friendly and awesome and go above and beyond with service. The atmosphere is super chill and the music is good. They have a wide variety of drinks that are different from anything I've had before. Get there for the happy hour prices! Thanks to the staff... More

Went to distillerie the other night for a boys night out. What a treat. Went during happy hour so the prices were a bit lower. Service was reasonable, especially considering that they were pretty packed. Asked for a suggestion, and the waiter suggested one that wasn't on the menu, the oriental peach. It was amazing! Will definitely be returning here... More

My wife and I visited on a Friday afternoon shortly after they opened at within the hour there was a line to get in. The cocktails are great -- there's a huge menu broken down by taste -- and the waitstaff friendly. I can see why it's so popular.

The inside of the bar is nice and comfortable. The drink menu is fantastic and very informative. Each drink is ranked on a strongness scale from 1-5 which is very helpful. What was even better than the menu were the opinions of the servers. They also have wonderful popcorn. I suggest getting lots of different drinks so you can try... More

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theatres, and exhibition centres are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
