Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This major financial institution was built to impress. The marble and grand architecture was supposed to make you confident to leave your money here. An example of vanishing old school banks. Free to enter.

Bank of Montreal or Banque de Montreal, is Canada's oldest bank, having been established in 1817. The building in which it is housed is an absolutely grand old, luxurious, out of this world place! It's a bank, of course! Worth a visit.

I love how they've kept the old tellers and original decoration of Cda's first bank. It is really beautiful inside. Good for BMO for keeping its original building available for use, as I don't believe the other Cdn banks still have their original buildings in use the way BMO does. We really enjoyed the little museum, and the explanation of currency in Cda from the 1800s; we spent about 30 minutes, but loved every minute. All free admission.

We visited the Bank of Montreal while touring Montreal. The edifice is an imposing structure overlooking the Place d'Armes park and facing the Notre Dame Basilica. In between the bank and the Notre Dame Basilica are two sculptures called the English Pug and the French Poodle which look towards each building showing the past and future of Montreal. It is a nice place to see the dichotomy in Montreal and helps to understand some of the historical tensions within the city and the province.

It is a bank. It is free to enter. Inside is an impressive monument to those who served in WWI. It is closed on week-ends of course, but any other time you WANT this on your tour.

The lobby of this bank is gorgeous with a lovely statue commemorating employees who died in WWI and a lovely dome. Just across from the basilica - be sure to stop by for a quick look.

A local that helped us with the parking meter station suggested we go across the square from Notre Dame and visit the Bank of Montreal to see the columns, which were gorgeous, and the museum. It was an interesting little bit of history tucked away inside.
Don't try to go past the lobby for pictures, that's a no no.
