Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After buying tickets for one of the Just for Laughs shows at Club Soda, I saw these reviews and was a little concerned. We got in the already long line about 45 minutes before the show was scheduled to begin, and made a beeline for the balcony when we finally got in, where we had no problem getting perfectly good seats. As long as you show up early and put up with waiting in line for a while, you shouldn't have a problem.

Venue and venue staff were great!
Crowd was a let down.
Out of town visit for a punk rock show. Expected the crowd was going to want to move around and dance but apparently that's not what Montrealers do.
The more I tried to dance the closer the people near me moved in until I was boxed in unable to bop up and down. They were motionless, not even bobbing their heads.
General Admission on first floor.
Seating upstairs (more standing folks should have taken advantage of that).
Limited beer selection.
Good sound, good space, good lighting.
Would go again despite the crowd.
4/5 rating is for the venue and staff alone, not the audience.

I just saw The Residents at the Club Soda. It was an awesome show and the Club is a good venue. Mandatory coat check seems a good idea to me, I would have hated holding my coat all night. Bar service polite and prompt. It's a rock ' n' roll club, but clean and friendly. Better set up than The Whiskey in Hollywood.

Promised a seat by the manager but there were none -- and none are assigned. I couldn't get to the bar -- people were siting at it -- cocktail service was non-existent. The best view I could get was high up, cranning my neck trying to see anything until I left from fatigue and disgust. What a waste of $28.75 CDN -- and the owner didn't even return my complaint email. Go there at your own risk.

First time there (March 2006).
No seats (just like another reviewer posted).
Bar service inexistant (crowded by people).
Forced coat check.
Balcony was off limits (where there were many seats).
We wanted to see a band and the entire floor area in front of the stage was SEATLESS and TABLELESS.
When you are paying over $23 for a ticket to an amateur band and there are no seats, someone isn't doing their job!
We asked for a refund before the band came on.
Do the same. If they refuse, write a letter to the club's owner.
The old Club Soda on Parc Avenue had seats and atmosphere.
Nice venue but it is ruined by stupid management decisions! Thumbs down!

Don't believe the negative reviews about this place. There were enough seats with everyone having a good view. It was all general admission except some more expensive tables of 4 right at the stage and front row on the second floor. There were some nice second floor seats along the sides and some bar stool tables along the sides of the first floor all providing good views. The doors opened at 6pm promptly and we were allowed right in to chose a seat. There was no long line-up or rush for seats. There were still good seats available right up to the start of the show at 7pm. There were 2 bars open (lower and upper) and excellent wait service- the drinks would come as fast as you wanted to pay for them. No food so eat before or after the show. The comedy this year was excellent and fast paced with 6 comedians in about 105 minutes. So go for a good laugh and don't be concerned about the venue, you will have a great time.

Came here for a Montreal Jazz Festival show after enjoying several other classy venues. This was NOT. It’s clearly a 20-something place. No help/assistance for older, ability-challenged people. I asked about seating in the balcony, and was told they don’t open it unless 1,000 tickets or more are sold. Ok...
But then there’s this bartender. RUDE! Wouldn’t let us have a tiny table at the end of her bar, but ABSOLUTELY let French speakers have it minutes later. She YELLED at my husband and embarrassed him. Maybe they don’t like Americans? The manager came and offered us a free drink, which we declined because our complaint wasn’t to get a freebie. It was to improve service. The manager never spoke to her about the incident, so English speakers beware and DO NOT go to Club Soda.

One of the best and unsung (pun intended) venues in Montreal. Many genres and styles every year. Very few "bad" seats if at all.
Staff is great, friendly and helpful.
Maybe only weakness is limited spirits at bar. Need to catch up on the cocktail trends.

We attended The Ethnic Show during the Just for Laughs Festival and it was awesome. We had so much fun - it was a total blast. All the comedians were funny. The staff was excellent. The establishment is pretty big - we were in the balcony but could see, hear without any problems. It wasn't expensive for tickets (about $40 each) and was worth every penny. The comedians came out after the show to meet fans infront of Club Soda. It was an excellent evening. My only wish is that it was longer!!!

I bought premium reserved tickets for the Just For Laughs Festival meaning I should of been sitting in the front row but wasn't. Not sure if it's the festival itself or the Club Soda who likes to fraud people but I was not impressed. People who had general admission were sitting front row when myself and my other guest were far in the back at a "premium" table. How does that make sense? Don't buy premium tickets to the JFL festival. It's not worth it.

Je regarde pour réserver des billets pour un spectacle d'humour, mais il n'y a pas moyen de choisir la place. Est-ce que ça signifie qu'il n'y a pas de place assise?
