Since we came to Montreal I was very excited about waking up in a morning and visiting one of their "Boulangerie" in order to try their croissants with a cup of espresso. This place is very nice, cozy with a great assortment of different baked goods . Everything is very fresh and tasty. Prices are very fair. On our way... More

I often go to Montreal and this area is my fav part of town. So many great shops: delicious pasty, cheese, clothes. It is a large avenue that feels like a village. Last time we were there, there was also a festival happening which added to the cool atmosphere.

Mount Royal Ave is the Plateau version of StCatherine St and historically this was the downtown shopping for many francophones in the 70s 80s , now its trendy shops down to earth cafes and restaurants , lots of people watching go see .

Okay I am a Montrealer, I used to live on Mont Royal Avenue 15 yrs ago before kids. I have to say that my guilty pleasure when I am on a date with my hubby is parking at the corner of Parc Avenue and Mont Royal and walking up to Papineau and back. It's a good walk plan at least... More

A great Yuppie street where you'll find great pastry, used records, bars and restaurants. Venue of choice for the french from France, center of Plateau-land, this street is the model of successful urban redevelopment and renewal. Many other streets like Masson, Wellington, Ontario are trying to emulate this model.Mont Royal Metro takes you there. If it rains, hop on the... More

The overall rating above looks like it is a pretty much poor place and/or a place not to waste your time visiting. However this is not the case. The justification is based on the fact that when we traveled through this part of Montreal before a pre-booked lunch, it looked looked lively, attractive and interesting and so wanted to check... My favorite shopping street in Montreal! An array of eclectic boutiques and consignment shops! I got a few stylish sweaters and a few pieces of jewelry really inexpensive. I love to cook, and I found 2 french cookbooks for $5.00 each at the Colisee local bookstore, while hubby sampled a homemade fresh bagel at the St. Viateur Bagel Cafe. Check... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
