I've been through Place Ville Marie a few times. It is not only a small shopping center with the usual food court but also houses offices. I generally wouldn't buy anything in the stores located there since I consider them on the higher end boutique-style stores. Only places that I might use within Place Ville Marie would be the Rogers,... More

It's expensive -- party of six will cost more than $100 to visit the top and see the views -- and most of the reason to visit is either the view or the underground mall. Worth the visit if you're into the shopping. Pass if you are looking for a view of the city. Too expensive & obscured by other... More

PVM is a busy location in the heart of Montreal known for it's shopping & office tower . What most don't seem to know about PVM is it's rooftop lookout (AMAZING 360 VIEWS) and it's busy rooftop restaurant . The lookout is a must see ! Expensive (~$21.00/person) so take your time . The "history" written on the walls etc.... More

Place Ville-Marie was the perfect place to begin my visit to Montreal! Not only did I get spectacular views of the entire city, I learned a lot about the history and culture through the exhibition. Well worth a visit!

We spent a lot of time checking out the views from every direction on the 46th floor. If you know your way around Montreal then it's great to see everything from above. The interactive displays on the 45th floor were interesting, but it would have been better if there had been an English audio option. Overall the tickets were overpriced... More

When u see from up it's definitely different, how come when it's Montreal? We had a great time, seeing from up with a historic look too, one level down there is a virtual museum, educational at the same time, must visit for all family

The site is well maintained, and the view is stunning. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and there are some cool photos of Montreal. All that said, it is an expensive site to visit. I could be wrong, but it is as expensive as the CN Tower.

The underground Mall is still a beehive of activity during the day. The shoppes are clean, inviting and carry such a wide variety of goods. There are also a number of good eateries in the Mall. Above the Mall, outdoors, is a small open marker where vendors producing local goods sell their wares. Most will let you try the product... More

The Observation Deck (Au Sommet) on the 46th floor at Place Ville Marie is not worth the cost of admission. The building is now surrounded by other high rise, partly obstructing views of the surrounding downtown area. When I visited, the adult admission was $19 + tax = $25 I think this observation deck is overpriced.

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
