We took the 1 hour calèche ride and you really get to see the old city. The driver knew the buildings, what they used to be and he knew some history. Fun way to see things as a family.

The best way to see Old Montreal is on a horse and buggy. Driver was knowledgeable and friendly. Just stop at the numerous horse carriages on the main street and ask for a ride. Not a bad price, either for 40 minutes. Driver even took...More

We really enjoyed the horse drawn carriage ride around Old Montreal. The weather was perfect for the 40 minute ride. The driver was full of facts and interesting tidbits. The only drawback was a lot of noisey road construction.

I was a little hesitant about going on a caleche ride because of the negative things I had read about it. But after visiting Montreal, and seeing the caleche tours being given, I decided to try it. There were several carriages waiting near Place d'Armes...More

Got to see the architecture of Montreal at the right speed. Much better than a bus in my opinion as it was from a fast walking speed. We took the hour tour from the basilica and it was totally worth it.

I had a tour of the old city from a horse drawn carriage and I had a great time. The driver told me all about how the old city was contructed. Pointed out a bunch of buildings and told me some great places to eat.

Greetings from New Zealand, I have read an article of Caleche Rides banned in Montreal for a year from May 2016. Is this true? We will be in Montreal in May 2017 and will definitely want to go for this ride. Are the hours only from 11am-4pm? Thanks
