Such a fun weekday stop! The neighborhood around the market was great as well. Tons of stalls with fruits, veggies, cheese and meats. Some of the vendors were not open with ready-made food mid-morning fyi. Also- several of the vendors only accepted Canadian dollars (no credit cards) which limited our purchases a bit.

Well worth a visit especially on a rainy day as most of the market is under protective cover. Lots of beautiful food to view and sample. Vivid colors present in the carefully arranged fruits, vegetables and flowers…the Quebec autumnal bountiful harvest fully on display. Amazing aromas of apples and freshly baked bread/pastries. Several meats on display along with a smaller area for seafood…very enticing. Parking in an under the market is a little tight and crowded but very reasonably priced.

Very crowded at noon on a fall Saturday. This made it lots of fun however. So many different stalls to walk around and see unique things! Enjoyed snacking our way into the afternoon. Most of the sit down places were already overflowing, but just grazing was the way to go. Easy to get to from downtown/old town with the Metro.

Loved this market! So many options for fresh fruits, vegetables, prepared food, desserts, even flowers! Open air but covered market with a great variety of vendors. Underground and inexpensive parking is available. Also close to the Italian section if so inclined. Highly recommend!! If you enjoy going to markets do not miss this one.

Probably the more tourist of the two major markets in Montreal. Its not in the centre but easy to reach on the underground . Good selection of fruit and veg stalls and a mixture of other stalls. We went to a very good coffee stall in the inside market.

This was a really fun stop during our weekend in Montreal. The kids liked buying ice cream and macarons, and it was a cool experience to see all of the local vendors. We got there via Metro at the nearby Jean Talon stop, so it was easily accessible. It would be a great place to stop for lunch if we had timed it correctly.

My favorite part of our visit to Montreal! The market is hopping in the summer with wi detail things for all five senses. My children were given lots of free samples from the bakeries and the shopkeepers in the market. Highlights were the maple syrup stand in the middle of the market, lunch from Le Coin Sante, crepes from the creative and the unbelievable cannoli from St. Martin’s Pâtisserie. Just watch out in St. Martin’s: they sometimes overcharge tourists so be sure to check your receipt. I grabbed a 2 for 1 item and the cashier originally charged me due both but refunded me after I pointed it iut.

This market tops them all! Aisle after aisle of the freshest produce beautifully displayed. Surrounded by small restaurants and offering every type of food imaginable - get a coffee, sip a glass of wine, buy a baquette, you name it. The area was clean and there were plenty of places to sit and just people watch. If I lived in Montreal, I would choose to live within walking distance of this market.

Let's start with the fact that it’s one of the largest public markets in North America and one of the oldest, (established in 1933) with a flavor all its own. What I liked most was that this open-air market enticed me with the scent of fresh flowers, high-quality, locally grown fruit and vegetables, and Quebecois cheeses. Located in warehouse-style buildings, the markets feature vendors selling fruits and vegetables, flowers, meats, fish, cheese, baked goods, and specialty foods. You'll find maple syrup and candies, dried wild blueberries, home-style fruit jams and preserves, and the region's fine cheeses, as well as restaurants and cafés selling luscious pastries Butchers, bakers, and fishmongers fill tables with fresh offerings and offer everything from ice cream to sushi. Even if you have no intention of buying anything, it’s still a joy to walk past the overflowing fruit stalls and fragrant flower stands. Yes, cleaning can be your concern but not that much. Even if you take a stroll through the market, make sure you check out the selection of Quebec specialty products.
