This place is a small venue upstairs at the John Doe bar. We came in on a Saturday night. Bar was empty when we showed up except the bartender. This was about 30 minutes prior to show time. She greeted us and told us to grab a table or a seat the bar and that the venue would open in... More

We were able to catch a couple of great acts at this venue. The service was friendly and it was a really great evening.

Very entertaining show in a cute part of town with lots of character... we attended an open mic night, which was very well done. It's a very intimate venue with lots of audience interaction - don't sit too close to the front if you don't want to get called out! Definitely would recommend... we were here on a Monday night,... Not sure why the address is wrong as this club is on Bishop. It used to be a great place to see stand up and we would go every time we were in Montreal but the last 3 times we went is has been dismally sad. Went in July 2016 during just for laughs thinking that might cause them to... More

We always visit this club when we are in Montreal... usually once a year. They never disappoint. Last visit I laughed so hard my face hurt.

Went to the new and improved Comedyworks for the 1st time last night. As always friendly staff and familiar faces. The new decor has really improved the ambiance but they have managed to keep the cozy vibe regulars are accustomed too. Great show as always! Cheers for efforts well spent to save this great Montreal landmark!

My boyfriend and I attended this show on Friday March 14th, 2014. We showed up early enough to have a drink in the bar downstairs and ended up running into the main comedian Eddie King. He was very friendly and funny. We were probably two of the youngest people at the show, but found that the jokes worked for all... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
