One of the best things to do in Montreal. Wet, wild and wonderful!

Jet Boating the Lachine rapids is not only a local tourist attraction, but a symbol of the spirit, history, fun and adventure that make Montreal a world-class tourist destination.

Quite possibly the world's greatest city boat cruise tour!

I took my grandkids-teens- jet boating and they loved it. Be prepared for a wild ride in the rapids. You go out on the St. Lawrence from Montreal and just "play" in this one area of the rapids. Be prepared to get soaking wet, even though they provide rain gear, because you will find the boat almost underwater at times.... More

This was a last minute idea for my wife and I when we visited Montreal in early August. It was absolutely the most fun we had in Montreal. Not taking anything away from all the beautiful, inspiring or educational things we did, but when the temperature is pushing 90 and you've hiked all over Montreal, it's time to get in... More

There is a changing area (semi-private with curtains) and secure lockers - so bring dry clothes and a towel - YOU WILL BE COMPLETELY SATURATED. Awesome fun exhilarating and not terrifying experience. You are loaned water shoes, a poncho and a sort of nylon jump suit, none of which keep you dry but protect you from the wind. The water... More

We had two members of our group who, after seeing videos, thought this would be too thrilling/scary for them. I went and it was a blast. The guides obviously know the river & rapids so well that you were forewarned when a big wave was coming and from which side. Next time I would wear earplugs as I don't like... More

We had a blast on the Jet Boats. Our guide Todd(?) was funny and entertaining. YOU WILL GET SOAKED, so bring a change of clothes. Wear the bootie shoes too. My son wore his sneakers and they were wet for days afterwards. We sat in the middle of the boat, which was supposed to be a little less intense. We... More

Great family adventure. Water was warm and Rapids were fast. Guide was really funny. This was our second time so we were prepared and wore swim trunks and brought zip lock freezer bags for phones. They do offer lockers for free. They have bathroom on site. Arrive at least 45 minutes before reservation. They have an English and French boat... More

I really liked it! It was lot of fun! The briefing was professional but with lots humor. The view of Montreal is spectacular and even though you get soaked... the water temperature was very good. Take spare clothing!

This is my second time doing the Soute Mouton tour. Loved it just as much this time! Some things that the website might not say... There is parking right at Sauté Mouton on the pier. When you arrive at the pier grab a ticket and park. That easy. After you pay for you tickets there are change rooms for you... More

Wow, I had no idea how incredibly wild this would be. I honestly didn't think it would be as exciting as the videos. IT IS! I highly recommend it, I can't believe all the years I have been visiting Montreal I didn't know about this attraction. It's in Old Montreal and there are plenty of other sites to visit in... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
