About
These 275-foot falls on the Montmorency River tower higher than even the legendary Niagara Falls. The 2013 season promises to be exhilarating for people who will visit Parc de la Chute-Montmorency – Montmorency Falls, the second most visited site of the provincial capital after Old Quebec. The highlight of all the new summer activities is certainly the opening of two via ferrata routes built in the Boischatel fault near the waterfalls. Via ferrata – this is Italian for “iron roads” - is an activity accessible to everyone over 12 years old that combines hiking and rock climbing. The two paths are built on the rock face on the eastern side of the waterfall. The less adventurous will also be able to get stunning views of the 83-meter high waterfall aboard the cable car which now runs with sparkling new cabins. History buffs will be glad to know that guided tours are now offered each weekend in the company of Sir Frederick Haldimand, who served as Governor of Quebec from 1778 to 1786 and Mathilde Robin, best known as the Lady in White, who lost her fiance during the Montmorency Battle in 1759. Guided tours are offered in French or English until Labour Day weekend.

    Fantastic trip.
We did the trip on an excursion from our cruise ship. Great tour and so interesting with fantastic views and scenery. We walked all the way along the bottom and you can feel the spray as you get nearer. A must do. So impressed.

    Great experience - great picture
Although the cable car was closed in May 2023, the 83 m high waterfall could still be admired in all its glory, i.e. we first drove to the parking lot at the foot of the waterfalls by car (entrance fee of around 4 CAN $ per person). Then, however, they told us at the cable car station that we would not be able to drive up today, but that we could also get to the bridge above - which spans the waterfall - by car (sat nav address Chemin du Manoir) and that's what we did. We thus saved ourselves the cable car ride, which cost around 15 CAN $, and were still able to walk across the bridge and almost to the foot of the waterfall on the opposite side.

Beauty and Power of the Falls
We first parked at the top of the falls and headed towards the suspension bridge. We followed the path behind the visitor center since the main path along the cliff was closed just before the falls. A helpful sign was posted in front of the visitor center warning of the closure. The fall that April morning was roaring and quite impressive. From the top you could see the speed of the water flow and the roar as it went over. Next to the zip line was a lookout that was not very busy but was the best location for a frontal view. At the bottom of the falls we could not get too close as the viewing area was closed. However, from the path we could still feel the force and feel the resulting spray as the falls hit the bottom. Others continued up the stairs towards the top of the falls. The park waived the parking fee (maybe for winter) and we only had to show our ticket’s QR code to get into each parking lot.

    Pretty spectacular waterfalls. Nice walk.
Beautiful waterfalls of approx. 80m at approx. 10-15 min. by car from the center of Quebec, in front of the bridge that goes to the island of Orléans (which among other things is worth a detour for the view towards the city). Interesting walk that can be done in one direction or the other, taking advantage of the ascent (or descent) of a few minutes with the cableway. Fair entry price and cableway price. The staircase next to the waterfall is also spectacular.

    Not to be missed!!!
Magnificent park and what can we say about the falls which are so high! As for those of Nigara, we expect to find them in the middle of nature, but not at all in fact (although you have to do them because they are impressive all the same!), those of Montmorency yes! The path to get there is very well made and safe, with a visitor center. I can only recommend this enchanted moment!

    Spectacular
Very pretty park and spectacular waterfall! Magnificent visit. From Quebec, we took bus 800 which leaves us at the top of the falls. Please note, cash is not accepted to pay for entry, too bad...

    Beautiful Waterfall!
We loved our time at Montmorency! It is a very impressive waterfall. We took the 800 bus from Quebec City. The bus leaves you a short walk from the top of the waterfall. To really appreciate the fall, you need to take a few hours to explore it from many angles. Take the cable car and see it from below and then take the (long) stairway back up. You will have some very cool views. If you are adventurous, do the zipline -- you will get a link to a video of your zipline experience too!

SMALL WATERFALL BUT VERY PRETTY, CROSS IT BY A BRIDGE OR ZIP LINE
If you are in Quebec for 2 days, and since touring the city thoroughly only takes a whole day (it is the most beautiful in eastern Canada), you can easily go by bus to the waterfall. The bus stop is 300 meters from the top entrance of the park, and on entering almost immediately you cross the waterfall by a bridge. Then you can go down either by cable car or by stairs (430 steps, difficult to climb) and complete a beautiful walk in 4 hours. If you must retake the bus at the top of the park, I recommend you take the cable car.

    Unmissable
An amazing spectacle although it would be quite hard work even if you used the cable car. It should be better still when they put in the planned bridge close to the foot of the falls but the spray at the existing viewing platforms is already formidable. Via Ferrata not open when we we visited but I think this would have been exciting.

    A Nice Waterfall
We bought tickets in advance for the zip line and park entry. The zip line entry is easily accessed from the top of the falls area. We initially parked at the bottom before figuring that out. The zip line was nice, and they give you an included video. We explored it from the top and then drove down to the bottom because we didn’t want to walk up and down the steep steps.

We visited the Montmorency Falls on a City and Countryside tour from Quebec City. There was lots of snow, but this didn't spoil our enjoyment at all - in fact, it seemed to make it all the more special.

In February, the place wasn't crowded at all, but the falls were a joy to see and they're really not far from the city. At 83 metres high, they're very impressive.

We used the facilities at the Manoir Montmorency while we were there and took a walk up and onto the bridge over the Falls - it was quite spectacular looking down into them.

We would certainly recommend a visit here.

We bought a ticket at the tourist information office with a bus company (unibus I think) to go to see the waterfalls. When compared against doing it by public transport, there was hardly anything in it, so it seemed an easier option to book with this company. The price was in the region of $60 return, for the two of us, which included entry into the park (but not the cable car, that is extra).
You will see plenty of red buses going around the city, which belong to the same company, its a blue line that you need for this trip and when you book its clear where the bus stop is. The only thing is, at that location there are no signs to indicate where the blue bus stops, no staff managing things, drivers of the other red buses who stop there are not overly helpful in explaining what the arrangements are. We did establish that it was a bus 55 ( which wasn't blue....as per the instructions and brochure) and when it arrived it was a scrum to get aboard. Once on the bus things chill, the site is no more than 20 mins away. It's a scenic via driving beside the St Lawrence River and the falls are worth visiting. Anyone who maybe a little unfit I'd recommend taking the cable car to get up to the park where you gain access to the suspension bridge over the falls. Tickets for this can be bought in the ground level building, $14 return. There is a cafe in the park and a nice walk, good views. It is well worth a visit. I did wonder how much an Uber would be to get out there. But this wasn't a bad option if you put aside the lack of organisation.

We visited the falls in July with another couple while staying in Quebec City. The falls are easy to get to by car. When visiting you will need to decide whether to enter at the upper or lower entrance. Because we missed the turnoff for the lower entrance we parked at the upper entrance, and were glad we did. From the upper entrance you can walk across the falls. If you enter at the lower entrance you need to pay to take a cable car up to the top of the falls and will need to walk down and across a rather unattractive area with no greenery, and nothing but silt. Unless you really fancy a cable car ride, I'd recommend parking and enjoying the park from the upper entrance.

We visited the falls and thy were stunning. e took an Uber from our hotel. The fee to get in was 7.00/pp or you could get a group rate, we payed 24.00 for 4 people. The stairway down from the falls to the bottom were closed as they were covered in ice. The restaurant was also closed so we had to find food, drinks elsewhere. I would highly recommend a visit to the falls.

The setting is very nice but it's not free. It cost the four of us $36 just to take a walk up to the falls ($8 admission x4 + $4 parking). Wew could have taken a short gondola ride up to the top ($15 each) but chose to walk part way up the stairs for a nice view. After walking all over Quebec City, we just didn't have the energy to go all the way up (500+ steps). Still glad we stopped here. The Sainte Anne Bascilica is just a ways down the highway (stunningly beautiful) and it's free so if you have your own vehicle, it's a nice short drive to the falls and the church.

Lovely waterfall, bet it would be fun to zipline over. Can be very icy/windy, hard to access all the steep stairs in winter. The cable car is a very short ride pretty far off to the side of the falls. The building at the top has a gift shop, bathrooms, and some type of food service that was closed the day after Christmas.

nice falls and a nice brief excursion out of Quebec. We were offered a shuttle bus for 29CAD leaving from downtown at the "tourist info" office that sells excursions. They say that this bus arrives at the bottom of the falls.

We opted for the city bus - 3.25CAD each way if the ticket is bought in advance or 3.75CAD exact change on the bus. Apparently tobacconists sell the tickets. We got our tickets at the underground booth connecting the train and bus stations (Gare de Palais). The wonderful man, Jean, was able to give us more information than anyone else we talked to (the bus tickets sold are also good for other buses) We could pay by credit card as well. Thanks, Jean ! The bus seems to run every 15 minutes or so .....

There is a pedestrian entry booth near the 800 bus terminus; 8.50CAD for adults. Credit card payment is fine. The bus stops at the top of the falls, so we could cross the suspension bridge and take some great photos at a couple of the lookouts.

The bridge is about 6feet wide and since there were few other people on it and it wasn't windy, it seemed fine to me, a confirmed acrophobe. However, the 487 steps up/down are another story - I got down 3 flights before I was overcome with fear, serious fear.

Of course, the cable car is available from top or bottom to get you vice versa .....

It sounds like it used to be admission free but that is no longer the case.

It's a nice excursion but it doesn't have the same volume impact as Iguazu (I've never been to Niagara)

We enjoyed the view of the falls - it is beautiful. However, we were disappointed that the 'masks must be worn on the suspension bridge' was not enforced by park staff. Walking on the suspension bridge would have been a highlight, but with such a small space with so many people crossing the bridge at the same time, stopping to take pictures, and only half wearing masks...it made us nervous. Would not recommend during Covid as there are too many people on the suspension bridge and it's impossible to social distance and half the visitors were not wearing masks.

We visited the Falls as part of a package of trips bought through the Hop on/Hop off bus service. We decided to walk to the top rather than use the cable car so were able to get good views of the Falls. The weather was dry so the stairs were not a problem but they may be treacherous if wet. It was very busy at the top and patience was needed to get the best views from the top

The Falls (Chute) is nice but this summer the lower trails are closed and you cannot walk the whole route. You should park in the upper lot if you just want to picnic, get the view from the bridge or hike the trails.

If you don't want to ride the Gondola or Zip Line, there is not that much to do during the day.

The area is very built up so if you are looking to see natural falls, this is not the spot. You can also see the falls from the road, so paying to see them and not do any of the add on activities is pretty pricey.
