The exterior is the opposite of impressive. It is a flat grey ediface and architecturally dull. It is not the cathedral on Rue St. Joseph in the eyes of one passing by, the grand cathedral of another era that was the central building of a city. The glory of N-D-de-Q is the interior. The facade does not prepare you for... More

Not very impressive outside but it's worthy inside. Not very barroque but beautiful. Rich decoration at the front part.

It does not come close to the one in Montreal but this by far my most favorite. Here is where I proposed to my fiancee in a quiet and serene altar on new year's day of 2017 . My fiancee had no idea and was totally unaware. Good news was se said, yes. It was really a moment that we'd... More

From memory I think this is not a very old cathedral but it has a traditional look to it. It is far from the most impressive cathedral but it was interesting to see

A few months before I went to Quebec, I spent two weeks traveling through Italy, so I saw some of the best churches in the world. I didn't really know if I wanted to see another one so soon, but this was a beautiful church that would is pretty comparable to some of the churches of Italy. It's very close... More

This was one of my favorite visits. I was fascinated by the history & awed by the beauty. Dominating Place-Royale is the Church Notre-Dame-des-Victoires built right on top of the spot of the city’s first settlement. It’s Québec’s oldest stone church, built in 1688 after a massive fire in Lower Town destroyed 55 homes in 1682. The church was restored... More

I had no idea there were churches like this in Canada. I have only seen comparable churches in Europe and South America. The architecture, the art work, are amazing. Sometimes, even when we are on vacation, it is nice to spend some time being still, and this is the perfect place for that....quiet reflection. Do not leave Old Quebec without... More

Absolutely stunning from the outside and completely breathtaking from the interior. We are so glad we made the short drive from Old Quebec to visit the church. The architecture is amazing. A definite must-see regardless of your religious affiliation.

Although the cathedral has burned down several times - most recently in the 1920's - the congregation didn't cut any corners rebuilding. The interior of the cathedral rivals anything Europe has to offer. It's open to the public for just a $2 suggested donation. Which makes it one of the top tourist bargains in the city.
