About
One of Québec’s best-kept secrets and one of the most spectacular view of the Old Town. Located at the heart of Old Québec City, the ride (one-way) takes about 12 minutes. During summertime, discover the marked bike paths located on both sides of the shore: Corridor du Littoral (Quebec City) and Parcours des Anses (Lévis). In winter, the mouvement of the ice on the St. Lawrence River is truly impressing.

    We Love a Ferry
We love being on the water so couldn’t resist the short ferry across the river to Levis. Very efficient all round and strangely quiet on a sunny Sunday morning. Sat out on the deck for both crossings. Not a great deal new to see apart from the Quebec skyline and that lovely hotel …

Easy way to get from Levi to Quebec
We were lucky the ferry was just a 10 minute walk from our rental. There is parking down there as well. It runs frequently so we didn’t need to wait. It is a quick efficient way to get from 1 side of the river to another. Staff was polite. The ferry was clean.

Lovely way to spend an hour
Takes about an hour to go over and back. The actual sail is only 15 minutes but you have to get off and turnaround on the other side. The views of the old town are fantastic and the hotel is stunning. I did a day trip and it was well worth the time and money.

I used to live in old City and work south shore: I was taking the ferry twice a day to commute, either in bicycle or car, depending of season. I recommend all tourists to take the ferry since you get a better view of old Quebec on the south shore. Takes 15 minutes to cross the River in each direction and cost 8 CAD $ for the trip.

So glad I made time to take the ferry to Levis and back. For $7.50 round trip, it's a fun and affordable way to see the city from a different vantage point. I did not get out and explore Levis, but in the summer it looks like there are some nice parks and areas to walk around there.

Reading old reviews, it looks like the ferry used to run every half hour but currently it is every hour. The ferry from Quebec to Levis departs on the 30 and the ferry from Levis to Quebec departs on the 00. I recommend taking the 4:30pm ferry over and catching the 5:00pm back, if you are here in the winter because it coincides with the sunset. The actual ferry ride is about 15 minutes and you can't stay on the boat, you must disembark at Levis. So I just got off, waited in the terminal for 10-15 minutes and then walked back on.

You can reserve a ticket online in advance but it wasn't near full when I went. I just showed up at the terminal a few minutes before and bought my ticket at the desk.

At the terminal and on the ferry, there are vending machines in case you want a drink or a snack.

It is a commuter ferry and when I went I think I was the only tourist (or at least, no one else was taking photos and most people chose to sit inside because it was cold!).

Riding this ferry in the winter is a really unique experience because you can see and hear the ship makes its way across the chunks of ice on the river. There is nothing like it!

It was a cool experience. We took a ferry ride to Levis on a Saturday at 10:30 pm. We didn't have any reservations and just bought roundtrip tickets directly at the terminal (address: 10, rue des Traversiers). Each adult ticket cost $4.05. The view of the city from the ferry was beautiful, with all the city lights. There weren't many people onboard - possibly because it was late at night.

We went to the top deck for a better view. The ride was smooth and took only about 12 minutes to reach Levis. We hadn't planned to do anything there, and since it was late, we doubted any stores were open. After disembarking (which was required), we just re-entered the terminal and boarded the ferry back to Quebec. The return trip felt even quicker.

Photo tip: There's a great view of the Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac near the stoplight by the entrance to the terminal building.

The best way to see old Quebec illuminated. The facilities are clean. Easy access to both sides of the city. We loved it. We used it to be able to take pictures of the illuminated old city, and it worth. Very enjoyable experience

We took the Quebec-Lévis crossing, round trip, as a pedestrian to go see the refrigerated ice path at Quai Paquet and walk on the Parcours des Anses. Taking the ferry in winter is a very different experience than in summer but just as pleasant. We can admire the majestic St. Lawrence River and see the movement of the tides through the movement of the ice. The crossing takes approximately 15 minutes.

Check their website for the schedule by entering the specific day of your visit. Generally speaking, the Quebec-Lévis ferry runs every half hour until 6:30 p.m. Thereafter, crossings are made on an hourly basis. For Lévis-Québec, during the day, it is also every half hour and every hour from 6:00 p.m. The schedule continues like this until around 2:00 a.m.

Adult: $3.95, tax free
65 +: $3.35, tax free

In winter, after your Quebec-Lévis crossing, you can go walking or skating at Quai Paquet, walk on the Parcours des Anses where nearly 6 km of trails are illuminated in the evening or go to the Corsaire Pub for a beer or something to eat.

Was recommended the ferry by a family member who had done the same trip because of the amazing views of old Quebec and the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. I was quite disappointed, I felt the views were nothing special and the weather was perfect, clear and sunny, the ferry to the Toronto islands was better.

The ferry departs every hour on the half an hour to Lévis and on the hour on the way back.

Once at Lévis I was told there is a park and places to eat and drink. The park was okay and there was only one cafe which was very expensive.

I felt quite bored and wanted to go back.

Adult return ticket was $7.40 which you can purchase at the ferry terminal.

We took the ferry to Levis and back the morning of the ice canoe race during Carnaval. (By noon it's out of service because they moor it on the Quebec side and people pay to watch the race and drink.) Crunching through the ice flowing on the river, especially closer to the Levis side, makes you appreciate how difficult it must be to complete the crossing - and some teams do it several times! Beautiful view of Quebec in the snow coming back.

I loved this part of our trip! We just took it to get good pictures of the city from the other side, which was totally worth it. It's only like a 10 minute quiet ride. The ferry is super clean and it is such a fun thing to do with the little ones!

In the winter, the Quebec City ferry acts as an ice-breaker as well, clearing the way for other ships to go down the St Lawrence river and preventing the river from freezing solid. It is quite the experience to be outside and hear the ice crunch below you as the ferry makes its way across to Levis . The ride is is very quick but the views as spectacular during the day or night.
