Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had extra time so this was a bonus stop. The best part were the peaceful grounds with the freshwater springs draining into the Sea of Galilee. Lovely little church on the shores is worth a peek. On a hot day, the many trees provide welcome respite from the heat. Access to the Sea of Galilee is fenced off - evidently people drown here all the time.

This is rather an unassuming church on the shores of the Sea of Galilee and approached on foot down a small valley. Inside is rather austere but there is a large rock in the floor which signifies St Peter as founder of the church. The shoreline is not particularly impressive but you can paddle in the lake. There is woodland around but not vast or interesting. The main attraction here is the extreme religious significance.

We visited The Church of the Primacy of St. Peter in Tabgha. It is nearby Capernaum. Jesus reinstated Peter as the head of the disciples in here. A modern structure integrated with the site was built in 1933. The Place of the Coals was where Jesus prepare meals, build coal fires, and cooked for the disciples. At the altar is a limestone dining table or Mensa Christi.
Pope Paul VI and Pope John Paul II visited The Church of the Primacy of St Peter in 1964 and March 2000.

Beautiful area right on the Sea of Galilee, with trees and places to sit down and enjoy nature, though it can be crowded with big groups. The church isn't very big but an important place in Christian history. We went in a group of 50 on a Holy Land tour in November 2022.

Beautiful, quiet and most of all, interesting.
Unlike the nearby Churches of Tabgha, the entrance is free.
Only one problem, but significant, there are no parking available around and you'll have to find a space somewhere.
Unless you'll park at the nearby Churches of Tabgha, but then the entrance is not cheap at all.

One of the less developed sites that Jesus was at. When we visited there was a very strict and not so friendly monk enforcing the dress code well before approaching the church. Also has a pebbled beach to put your feet in the Sea of Galilee.

This is in an area on the north shore of the Sea of Galilee which is crammed with chapels, shrines and grander churches, celebrating each of the acts of Jesus recorded in the New Terstament which happened in or around Capernaum, (and there were lots of them!). This is one of many of which, frankly; mostly disappear into a combined memory without especially standing out. Still worth visiting, though, along with as many of the others as you have time for.

The Church of the Primacy of Peter is a small Franciscan chapel which includes part of a 4th-century church - something I didn't expect! It is located right on the shore of the Sea of Galilee and commemorates Jesus' reinstatement of Peter in John 21.
On the sea-facing side of the church are the rock-cut steps commonly known as the place "where the Lord stood." Just beside the church is a small Crusader building, and nearby are Byzantine water towers.
The site had MUCH more than I thought and was a lovely walk through the Bible and history. It is a breezy location by the sea with lots of shade and places to sit. Great place for groups, families and individuals.

It situated right by the sea side, the kids enjoy splashing, play with the water, the kids could relate in Jesus time, can imagining how Jesus walk on water, can relate to many stories of Peter etc. My kids sit in the church in their own time, we spend much more than time than anticpiated, because of seashore and they don't even want to leave. It is a place for children, especially on a very hot day. It has a beautiful garden as well.
