The run trail guess all the way around the lake. You get to see fantastic views of the the lake. You can go only a mile it so to begin to see the views of Spooner lake and Lake Tahoe. Bring lots of water!

Definitely plan on doing the TRT hike when you're in Lake Tahoe area. It offered the best views of Lake Tahoe that we could find. Our kids between 4-8 could all do the 3 mile hike to the summit. It is not very strenuous or steep, but definitely climbs altitude above highway 267. The parking lot is right off of busy 267, so be careful when trying to park, crossing the highway to hike, and then pulling out. Once the parking lot fills up, people park along the side of the road. Best to get there in the morning, and then have a snack or lunch up at the top.

In October is was a stunning hike. It is pretty uphill most of the way, but about 3 miles there and back. Recommend taking water with you. When you get to the top the views are breath taking. Perfect hiking and doesn't take up your whole day. easy to find parking and trail head.

Hike pieces or parts of the unique specular trail with views of the second deepest U.S. lake and take in the wildlife, tree species, birds and plants. Trail is maintained of some degree and you will meet lots of folks along the way, see the fire scares that have taken place in recent years, a winter hike on the trail might be a challenge to be sure
