Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was in Dolceacqua last month, I participated in the first route of an eight days running along the Alvi trail.
We visited the castle when it was noon and the views were amazing from there. You could see old and new Dolceacqua and also the river coming down from the mountains.
The ticket was 9 euros but you could see some drawings of Mone and also with the same ticket you could visit Villa Margherita in Bordighera.
Its a bit of an uphill and the streets of Old Dolceacqua is made form stones so make sure to bring good traction shoes or a stick if you are not in good shape.

Beutiful little town in the mountains. We walked up to the casstle through the old midevil town, which is still lived in! The trip up was marvelous, we got lost several times, which was fun and adventures for the kids (8 and 4 years). The town is small but it more than lived up to our expectations. Defenitely go there! The castle has a great view, but is undergoing construction. Not important. The bridge and old town is all you need. We spent about 3 hours there.

Our Tauck tour must have realized that a lot of people find that one day in Monaco is enough, so they offered a sightseeing visit to Dolceaqua. Everyone that wen, and that was almost everyone, was delighted The highlight is the view of the old bridge which is the subject of a Monet painting. Walking through the narrow, hilly, walled streets of the town is fun too - even if you get lost. It is not a very big town and you easily find yourself back near the river.
The drive their from Monaco is beautiful. The story of the town's unique pastry, the micette, is fascinating tale too.

The castle is a ruin so not much to see inside. However it does offer a great panorama of Dolceacqua town and you can all the way to the sea from the south side. It was good to see it being used regularly for weddings, etc and also hosts art exhibitions. Fascinating walk up to the castle through the dark cobbled streets of the old town. Suggest you omit the very long introductory video.

Small but with a lot of history in this wall, was nice to visit this tiny village in the mountains. There is not much to see in the castle, when i was there, there was a exposition of Monet, i understand the importance and value, but 9€ to see only two frames and nothing inside the castle was expensive

This is s must if you are near Dolceaqua.
It is such a beautiful walk in small narrow streets and the houses are well restored and there are many nice details on the houses. It is a cosy atmosphere and if you want you can enter the castle for an entrancefee.
Only minus , if I should point out something then it is that there is a lot of souvenirshops in the alleys and it is very well visited so you do not feel alone.
But we had a nice time here and we are glad that we took the time and saw it.

Called in on visit to Dolce Vita. Admission is 6 Euro each. There isn't a great deal to see but it's worth half an hour of your time for the views of the town and bridge from the ramparts. Some nice plants on the way in.

We wanted to do 3 countries in a day and so planned to go to Monte Carlo and then on to Ventimiglia from our base in Nice. A local suggested we go to Dolceacqua instead and I am so glad he did. What a beautiful little town. The people here were very friendly...The castle and bridge are pretty from the road but it is when you start to climb the steep cobbled streets in the medieval village that it really is impressive. It is hard to believe people continue to live this way -- I would have loved to have a tour of one of the many private homes on the way up to the castle. On a very hot sunny, day, it was at least 10 degrees cooler and very shaded along the path to the castle. Be sure to wear good walking shoes for the road up. If you are coming for lunch, be sure to arrive during regular lunch hours as the restaurants were all closing after we had toured around. We were forced to go to Ventimiglia for a snack...

The whole town of Dolceacqua is very charming and beautiful but what should not be missed is to walk over the old bridge and into the small village on the other side, the old medieval town. Narrow small walking streets inside the village is a very special experience since everything is built in such a way that all the houses are connected and there are even bridges between houses - and people still live there which I find amazing! There are also tiny shops there that sell some local stuff (art, food ...). You can get lost there but shouldn't be a problem to find your way back.
Very unique place and highly recommended.
