- Sallianne C1 contributionAmazing tour of the vineyardWe visited the vineyard for a tour and wine tasting. Alex was very informative and had the answers to everyone’s questions. We had a lovely relaxed tour and the lunch was really tasty. Felt very welcome and the staff were friendly and approachable. We all had a lovely time and would thoroughly recommend this tour to anyone interested in both drinking wine and finding out about wine making.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 August 2024

As a wedding gift, we were given a voucher for a tour of the vineyard and a meal of tapas, and because of the various lockdowns, we had to wait a while before we could go. The tour of the vineyard and winery was very well conducted by Alex, the manager, who as informative and very friendly, and the samples of wine flowed generously. However, we felt the treat was a little spoilt by the meal, which consisted of a plate containing simply olives, grapes, two small portions of cheese, a small portion of ham, and half a slice of unbuttered bread. Having eaten ‘tapas’ many times in Spanish restaurants, this was nothing like what we expected. Whilst the definition of tapas is ‘a small plate of food’, it is generally accepted that a meal would consist of a variety of small dishes served up together. Considering the charge is £60 for two people, we feel it represents poor value for money, and no way compares with the wine tours with food we have enjoyed in Italy for example.

The good bits- great place, interesting story, plenty of wine to taste. The poor bits- The tour guide (name withheld to spare him) was very knowledgeable but, his delivery was so monotonous and he made no attempt to allow questions or discussion, he was abrupt in answering any put to him and did not try and make all of us chat relax, enjoy! The plate of cheeses and meats were plonked down unceremoniously with no explanation of what we were eating or how we could buy, I had to hunt him down hiding in the kitchen to ask and the answer was .. yes, abrupt. I don’t know if he is neurodivergent or just shy but please find someone else for the job. When I emailed the company to ask if they wanted feedback, they didn’t even bother to respond. Get the strong impression they just want your money and volunteers for harvest. Shame.

Well what can I say. This place was a beyond fantastic visit.
When you arrive you are immediately shown to the vineyard where they house their beloved pebble beds. At first I wasn’t sure, but after a few minutes lying down on one, oh boy did it hit the right spots.
I’ve converted all my beds at home to pebble beds. My wife has left me but hey who needs a loving wife when you have pebbles!
10/10 would break down another marriage again.

Had a Saturday night booking (as a special occasion gift from a family member) and arrived to find no availability! The person in charge (Geoff) advised us to wait at he bar whilst he found us a seat! However, after waiting 15 minutes during which time was Geoff was busy socialising with other customers, there was clearly no room for us, and no prospect of a table becoming free! After travelling 45 minutes from home especially for the pre-booked experience, we realised that customer service was not a priority and a booking meant nothing!! With a written invitation in hand, complete with date and time clearly written, we retreated to another local eaterie. Imagine our amazement when 40 minutes later Geoff wandered into the local restaurant we had stumbled upon, to find some other customers that he had presumably also turned away! We called him over and explained that we were concerned how we were going to tell our daughter, who had bought us the 'gift', that the wine tasting experience had had to be abandoned. Geoff said that we were the best type of customers - ones who had pre-booked and prepaid, but could not be seated or accommodated as other customers had arrived first!!!! A booking clearly counts for nothing and lessons in customer service are undoubtedly required!!! An unbelievably disappointing experience all round!!!

This is just not correct.
An earlier group had arrived late and we were not able to immediately seat the couple who made this review. I know the husband of the couple well and i asked them to wait at the bar and gave them a complimentary glass of sparkling. It was about 10 minutes before we could seat them. At this time the husband said to me he hadn't realised it was wine tasting and they would prefer to come back another time when he wasn't driving - i asked twice "are you sure" and the reply was yes. I met them an hour later in the car park when i was able to get away for a break and they said they would look at diaries to come back. I just don't understand why such a review would be posted as I hope the other reviews testify we try very hard to give everyone a good experience. I have since spoken with the daughter who gave the gift and offered a refund or a case of wine.

I visited the wine cellar with a group of work colleagues on a Friday evening to find that there was only one member of staff of duty. To give her her due, she tried her best but found it hard to cope with all the guests.
As a result the the food was very very slow in arriving and the pizzas ordered by our group seemed to disappear onto other tables which meant that the majority of us had finished well before some of us had even started eating! It also meant that she was trying to give the same tasting experience and notes to several different tables in quick succession. It probably did not help in our forming opinions of the wine which unfortunately did not make up for the slowness of the service.
I would find it a huge ask to pay £25 for the fizzy version (nothing at all like champagne). £11 a bottle is also a lot of money for the quality on offer. Everyone in our group of 11 was of the same opinion so I am not being a one off grumpy person!
We had gone there with high hopes of a brilliant evening and the ambiance and company was certainly great, it was the wine, food and service which let Pebblebed wines down.

We were given this as a gift and took our daughter along paying the extra £20.00 for her ..
There was only one other couple there but various bodies popped in and out and this interfered with the experience as there is only one member of staff.
We were expecting a variety of Tapas to match the wines we tasted but we give n a choice of a single dish each. We had a choice of Pizza , pretty good , smoked fish ok but small no lemon or accompaniment, and cheese nice but no chutneys or bits , so if we had only been the two of us we would have had only two dishes , this is not tapas. For the money it is bit pricey , the service takes second place to visiting types who come in , The wine is fine . But if the exercise is to sell wine then It doesn't do that, stick to wine tours and get professionals into to do the tapas bit if that is what they want to do .A bit of a disappointment .

We visited Topsham with friends for the weekend who have been here before. My friend booked and asked whether they could cater for me (being a coeliac) He assured her he could. Between us we ordered pizzas, (including my gf one) garlic bread, salad and a charcuterie board which very thoughtfully arrived with gf bread for me. The sparkling Pebblebed rose was delicious and it was the perfect place to celebrate my husband's birthday. Relaxed atmosphere and a real gem of a find.
