The hot springs were an option as a tour with our hotel. We had a driver pick us up in Boquete and bring us here. The road in is definitely bumpy and muddy. There are apparently two options to choose from. You can go to the more natural ones in the river which I believe you have a short hike uphill to get to.
We chose the more "manmade" spring that the owns of the farm built. We could drive right up to it. There are bathrooms and showers available.
It was a beautiful little spring that was made to look more like a pool. The water was warm but definitely not hot. I believe the more natural springs are hotter.

We had a lovely morning there and really enjoyed the solitude and beauty of nature around us.

You should be able to walk up and down hills in a hot, arid climate for this visit. Once at the river there is a fair amount of walking on rocks. No food or drink available--bring your water.
The drive to the hot springs: Drive 11 Km south of Boquete and turn left just before the overhead walkway. Stay to the left when the road divides. Keep driving (about 6-7 Km) until you reach the town of Caldera. Once you get to Caldera drive through the town and look for the signs to the hot springs. Turn right onto a gravel road and drive about 2+ Km. You can park at the area before the cement water canal and walk about 10-15 min to the hot springs. Where the road splits, take the left turn. Initially the road is hot, hilly and dry, but once you go left it becomes tree covered and breezy with forested areas on both sides. When you arrive to the little farm across the stream on your right someone will come out and charge $2 per person.
The actual springs are lined with rocks and you can sit and relax in them. Did I mention to wear your bathing suits? A man in a bathing suite (?Jose) showed us the various springs (4) and was eager for us to enjoy them. Then he demonstrated how we could sit in a hot spring, then go into the river (COLD).
All in all, the shade makes it a very relaxing place to be. It's a lovely setting and there is a constant pleasant breeze. Be cautious about your belongings. There is a semi-tame monkey who hangs around and will take your things.

Spent a nice afternoon at the hot springs and cooling off in the river. If you are looking for clean, comfortable and spa type treatment this place is not for you. It's 3 natural hot pools in the middle of a farm with goats and peacocks hanging about. It's $2 to enter and we enjoyed the 2.5km walk from where the bus coming from Boquete takes you. Take plenty of water / food. The owner was friendly and there were a number of locals there too. It's a fun experience. Take care getting in / out of the pools and dipping in the river as rocks are slippy and there's only basic maintenance (which kind of makes the experience)

Unless you travel by car expect to utilise the best part of your day getting to / from the hot springs.

We caught the 11am bus behind the market in Boquete (just ask ppl) and caught a return bus that came at 4pm. I believe 5pm is the last bus back.

Enjoy!

Me and my sister went to the hot springs. It's a beautiful place and we came there for skin and back pain issues.
In the afternoon we found the owner laying in one of the thermic waters and he started chatting to us and giving us, it seemed to us as, therapeutic advice for our problems. We entered the water and did some therapeutic rituals where he also massaged parts of my back. This didn't seem to me as something weird or too friendly, since I saw this only as something therapeutic.
But after a while me and my sister started noticing that his "therapeutic touchings" weren't therapeutic at all and started to feel sexual.. as soon as we noticed this we left the place..
We wanted to confront him on his behavior, but we were at his hacienda in the middle of nowhere.. two lonely girls.

The place is beautiful, but I wouldn't recommend going there by yourself as a girl. So be careful and maintain your distance!

First of all, there are many hot springs here! Not just one, or two, or three, but I found at least 4 pools. It just takes some exploring or a guide - so yeah I do think it's worth the money to pay for a guide who knows the hot springs well.

Secondly, this is not a "resort" or anything like that. These are natural hot springs - THANK GOD they have not been developed. So if you enjoy natural treasures, tucked away from development and paved roads, then you will enjoy these.

There is an area that you can change in.

The other reviewers are correct in that it is not fun during the midday because of the heat, BUT, the river is lovely and cold, so you can still go swimming. I had a blast exploring the river, then the hot springs. There are also some "tepid" springs along the river that have mixed with cold river water for a not-so-hot spring experience. I enjoyed those pools as well.

If you want a good little hike to prepare you for a cold river plunge, you can park before you cross the bridge. It is a nice walk.

I do not understand the hype of this place. There's a couple "hot spring" holes you can sit in. Unless you ride in horseback, it's a pain to get to. The only thing that looked remotely fun, was the area where you can sun on the rocks and swim. Was NOT worth the stop.

If you like this place, you MUST travel MORE often, seriously.

I'm surprised to read good reviews about this horse farm, where worm infested warm water micro "pools" are located. The walk in the farm is OK, since waking outside is always good for anyone!

Don't waste your time. Visit Los Cangilones de Gulaca instead.

Very fun, we went to 3 hot spring and the river. Other locals were there, they were very cool. To get there you need a 4x4 and do some walking

This was the hot springs that you can drive to. The spring is a boulder lined pool and sits apart from a dwelling that offers showers and changing rooms. On this date, the water was lukewarm and it was pretty busy as it was Sunday. There is a $5 admission and cold drinks may be purchased as well. Signs are up along the gravel road to get you there from off the main Caldera road. Go just past the soccer field and you will see the Hot Springs sign on your right. The road takes you through cattle ranches and across the aquaduct. There is a spot on this road near where the river bends that offers what looks to be a really grand swimming hole, although we didn't stop to investigate. Keep watch for horses, cattle and other traffic. The drive is about 30-45 minutes off of the paved road and it can be pretty challenging to drive.

Rolando took us to a beautiful, clean pool near a river. There were showers, toilets, changing rooms and a deep pool (man made) on private land that is a teak plantation. Many fruit trees, blooming trees & lots of birds. Rolando also took us to a petroglyphs site on the Caldera river. It was informative, a great morning excursion, highly recommend Rolando with Beyond Tours. (he has lived in this area his whole life and his English is very good).
