About
Ladybank Golf Club is synonymous with The Open Championship Qualifying. One of the premier courses in the UK, it has hosted final Open qualifying on seven occasions since 1978 when The Open Championship was played at St Andrews. In 2018 Ladybank was rewarded with final qualifying for The Senior Open Championship hosted at St Andrews. For lovers of the game, Ladybank Golf Club provides a classic heathland test and enjoys a reputation as one of the finest inland layouts in the British Isles. Recently Ranked No 2 in Great Britain's Top 100 Courses under £100 by National Club Golfer magazine, which quoted - “Designed by Old Tom Morris in 1879, Ladybank is a rare beast in Fife – a tremendous inland course. It measures just over 6,600 from the medal tees, making great use of its heathland terrain. We hope you will come and visit us at Ladybank GC in the near future. A warm, friendly Scottish welcome awaits you.

Called in for breakfast on a Saturday morning and found the place quiet, welcoming, and comfortable. Breakfast dining is informal, in the bar area. There’s a good view of the 1st tee and the 18th green, and optional outdoor seating.

Service was relaxed but attentive, prompt, and friendly. The Full Scottish included two sausage options, with bacon, black pudding, beans, tomatoes, choice of eggs, hash browns, grilled tomato, and toast. Swapping items out was handled graciously. A smaller breakfast plate and breakfast rolls are also available.

Ladybank GC has always had the reputation of being one of the leading courses in the country and deservedly so. It earned the right to be an Open qualifying course at one time and club members are fiercely proud of that important piece of history. Sandy Smith is an outstanding professional and club facilities are most definitely fit for purpose. The course itself is challenging, scenic and fair. Trouble is waiting for the errant tee shot and year after year staff and committee strive to introduce new challenges for those who are privileged to play this great course. The club has strong seniors, ladies and junior sections and an interesting and varied club competition programme. Players of all levels of ability are welcome. Catering in 2016 is as good as it has ever been.

Having been a member for nearly twenty years and just played in the weekly medal I would just like to note that the course has been in the best condition I have ever seen it for the last few weeks. Greens are excellent and of a good consistent speed. Combined with the excellent and competitively priced pro shop we are lucky to have such a facility at great value relative to some pretty average courses elsewhere.
Just wanted to take the opportunity to say well done to all the staff.

First time I had been to Ladybank golf club. I was impressed with the layout and the cleanliness of the place. What I wasn't impressed with, was the price of drinks. For a small bottle of prosecco it cost £11.90 and a glass of white wine was £8.00. These are prices I would expect to see in a hotel not in a small golf club. Absolutely ridiculous for a glass prosecco to be £11.90 and £8.00 for a normal sized not very good glass white wine. I'm more than happy to pay a higher price but when in a place which reflects such. This has put my friends and myself off returning.

Enjoyed a great round over this lovely course but had our Easter trip spolied when we were asked to leave the lounge bar due to our wives being attired in cycle clothing.
Spent over £100 pounds on day but had to take our other-halves elswhere because of old-fashioned dress codes.

Not all it portrays to be average parkland course if your visiting for first time purchase a stroke saver because the on course yardage markers are a joke
Average facilities need modernised
Well stocked overpriced pro shop as you would expect
If after your round you feel the need to eat the please please go elsewhere
Poor service below average overpriced food and now for the important part if you haven't paid attention to the first part of this review then please focus because this is important if you have a food allergy if any kind then do not go near the clubhouse
I ordered the steak and ale pie and I expected steak and ale pie what I didn't expect was a steak and mushroom in ale pie now considering I have a severe allergic reaction to mushrooms I can only imagine the consequences had I not checked my plate of food before eating considering the location of golf club and distance to nearest A & E unit who know what outcome might have been I can only hope this club has plenty public liability insurance because sooner or later there going to need it

This was our fifth course in five days in this area and we left the BEST til LAST! From the initial meeting with Sandy Smith the head professional to leaving the club-house after a tasty lunch, the whole experience was five star! Met the Golf manager, the head green-keeper and two of the green-keeping staff and we made sure they knew what a great course they had and what a great condition it was in. If only I lived nearer - this would be where I would want to play, from dawn to dusk.

We played Ladybank on Monday 17th March 2014 as a fourball as part of a Links with History package. Four rounds of golf at Ladybank, Crail Balcomie Links, Lundin Links and Scotscraig for £90 before the end of March....brilliant value.

Just driving along the tree-lined driveway to the clubhouse makes this place feel that little bit special. We checked in at the well stocked, excellent pro shop easily and were given a very friendly welcome. As we had arrived an hour early for our booked start time we were asked if we wanted to go out earlier and that was quickly arranged.

The course was in excellent condition, very dry and the greens firm, true and decently paced. It was suprising to us that we were asked to play off mats on the fairway and that the tees were just off the front of the tee boxes. Some even had temporary mats in play. In our opinion that wasn't really needed given the great condition of the course but we were playing in the Winter season at a massively discounted rate!

The tree lined fairways mean accurate driving is essential but you also need to hit the ball a decent distance to set yourself up for a par. On the day we played we only saw one other pair and a single player when out on the course. It felt as though we were the only ones out there and we never felt rushed.

On finishing we went into the clubhluse for a pint and strangely, other than the barmaid, there was nobody there. We had a seat in the window overlooking the 1st, 9th, 10th and 18th holes. Beautiful. It did however feel like we were being chased out a bit as when we were sitting there the shutters were being pulled down at the bar.

Excellent golf course, great day, would have been five star if we didn't have to use mats and without the slightly uncomfortable feeling of being chased out of the clubhouse.

I was invited to play the invitational and couldn't wait to play the course. The course was exactly what I was expecting it to be, a tough challenge of golf and in superb condition. What a shame about the facilities after the golf. We entered the club house shortly after 6 o'clock and the 4 of us were looking forward to something to eat. Unfortunately we were only offered a packet of crisps or peanuts as there was no catering facilities open. I felt sorry for the club member as he was extremely embarrassed by this but informed me that he wasn't surprised at all as the catering facilities are rarely available at dinner time. We didn't stay even for a drink and went to a local restaurant and had a great evening. I would have thought a club like Ladybank would have moved with the times but sadly is being left behind most other local golf clubs. My advise to anyone thinking about playing this course is to bring a packed lunch box if you are wanting something to eat afterwards.

Played in mid March as part of a golfing break in Fife where I have now played the majority of courses over the last few years, this along with the castle course at St. Andrews were the 2 best by a long way (including old course). If can only play one or two rounds of golf in Fife this has to be on the list.
