About
We are an innovative Islay distillery producing unpeated Bruichladdich, heavily peated Port Charlotte and super-heavily peated Octomore single malt whiskies. We use a wide range of barley types, including organic and bere, grown on a variety of terroirs including Islay. We also distill The Botanist gin. Mary at the Laddieshop will be glad to organise a tour of our distillery for you and the distilling team will happily answer any questions you may have.

Barley range tasting
Sep 2021 • Couples
Excellent time spent at the barley range tasting. Very knowledgeable staff. Plenty of information on the 3 samples we had and also had chance to taste other ranges as well.

Would thoroughly recommend.

Excellent Choice for Islay!
Sep 2021 • Couples
The staff were amazing! The experience was fun and informative! They were safe with Covid rules but relaxed enough for a dram.

The Botanist tasting was brilliant!
Aug 2021
The Botanist Gin tasting that I attended on 20th Aug 2021 was one of the best experiences I've had on Islay. The 1 hour session is excellent value for money. The lady who conducted it (I'm so sorry I don't remember her name!) was absolutely lovely! The session includes tastings of Tonic, the Gin itself, botanical syrups, a cocktail booklet and lesson, a history of Bruichladdic and an overall fun time. There were drivers drams provided for everything. I would happily pay 3X and still find it worth it, they are really underpriced. Highly recommend!

Great shopping experience
Jul 2021
Enjoyable visit, despite access to distillery closed due to COVID restrictions. The staff in the shop were very knowledgeable and informative and took the time to chat about the whiskies available. Always a pleasure to visit.

Great stop on the grand tour of Islay
Mar 2020
We were on Islay for a whistle stop tour of distilleries for my husband's 60th birthday. This was a good solid stop on the tour, engaging guide, loved looking round the barrel store with all the barrels with their histories and previous contents, the amazingly indescribable smell (good!) and don't forget to ask what the giant sponges are for (I couldn't have guessed). The Botanist Gin story adds an interesting extra dimension. There was somethings for everyone; husband and eldest loved the whisky tasting; youngest loved the cool merch (Octomore hoody is a great goth slouch) and the bucket of G&T she and the other whisky hater on the tour were served with fine gin and a good quality tonic put a big smile on her face. As driver, I could not drink whisky or gin, but as a closet botanist myself I was absolutely enthralled with the living wall growing down one side of the tasting room; it was all I could do to not nick a cutting or two. Tip for those with an early afternoon booking - pop next door to the minimarket, as advertised they do serve fine coffee and the toasties are fab!

Customer Friendly in Challenging Times (COVID-19)
Apr 2020
Due to COVID-19, our booking for the Warehouse Tasting was cancelled. Although we completely understand, it was a huge disappointment. However, the communication was accurate and the paid amount was quickly refunded. We are looking forward to visit Bruichladdich in the near future.

Bruichladdich Distillery Warehouse Experience
Mar 2020
My visit to Bruichladdich was part of my first visit to Islay. I was booked in on the Warehouse Experience which was an ideal way to get an introduction to the whisky of Bruichladdich. I would suggest anyone visiting Islay to include a tour of this distillery as part of their stay on the island. Our guide David was excellent making the warehouse tour a great way to experience a sample of their whisky.

Not the first time I have been on the Gin Tour and still learn a lot.
Excellent presentation by David. Humourous and informative.
Always learn a lot about cocktails and certainly enjoy them big time.
Many thanks
