The Hukou Waterfall is the second largest waterfall in China and the largest on the legendary Yellow River. As a result it is often claimed that this is "the only yellow waterfall in the world." It is right on the border between Shanxi and Shaanxi provinces. The 300-meter wide Yellow River suddenly narrows and is forced violently through a 20-meter-wide gorge before falling turbently as a waterfall. As with the other applications I've submitted, I'd be happy to provide a major write up should you wish to give this a listing. On another note, I would suggest you consider reorganizing the categories of your listings for Shanxi. Listing them completely by counties doesn't really make sense. I'd be happy to make an alternative suggestion if you'd like. (Heather Pickerell, alias ShanxiFan)

Heard of Hukuo Pubu (壶口瀑布), saw it on television. The upstream of the Yellow River narrows, just like the spout of the kettle, that's where the name was given. Gushing water splashed all over with great strength. On one side of the river is provinces...More

The scene was magnificent. You get to see and feel the falls up close (read: getting wet by the water molecules in the air). And since it is the Yellow River, the water is yellow/ brownish. This came to my mind: 万马奔腾 like ten thousand...More

I visited this place as part of 2D1N Yanan/Hukou tour from Xian, as the journey was very far and the transportation was inconvenient. The tour price was 480 yuan, plus another 85 yuan for compulsory group Chinese meals (2 lunches, 1 dinner & 1 breakfast)....More

Lets start by saying that this is NOT a Niagara Falls! But, it is a splendid day trip and one can walk right up to the water and get close. It makes for terrific photos and there's not too many hawkers selling their wares except...More
