An hour's drive from our accommodation for nothing, even though we drove there during opening hours (11am). When we arrived at the car park, a woman came towards us and said we should go back, we weren't allowed to look at the animals today, without giving a reason. Then she left us there and we had to drive all the way back.

Our stay at Kamihis Farm owned and ran by Valina & Michalis was amazing from start to finish . A real retreat in an amazing setting . Wonderful evenings by candle light sitting under the stars .
At the farm nearby we baked bread ,watched cheese being made & made Cretan pies all with the help of Valina & Michalis followed by a delicious lunch . Lots of friendly farm animals & fun collecting eggs from the hens .
No need to travel anywhere as it can be arranged for breakfast to be bought to you too although the town of Zaros not far away .There are facilities to store and cook your own meals at the farm house as well..
Perfect for 2 or 3 nights but even better for a longer stay to escape everyday life !

This was such a treat. And in fact the highlight of our 18 days in Crete. We stayed at the farmhouse for two nights and also got to experience some amazing things. Food. Dancing. Banking and cooking.
Brilliant for anyone. Kids couples or grandparents

What an amazing experience! We stayed at the stone lodge on the farm for two nights with our family. We loved the outdoor baths, view, quiet, walks, and farm activities. The lodge is absolutely beautiful and the view overlooking the family’s olive and carob farm in the valley and on the mountain opposite is stunning.
We plan to return someday and so loved our time with Mihalis and Velina❤️

Hosted by a delightful family who give you a real insight into the lifestyle of Cretan farmers and how they have lived for many centuries.
There are goats (to milk if you wish),pigs, donkeys, sheep,a cow and a horse.
They are obviously passionate about what they do and they transmit their love of nature to you through a well polished programme that includes baking, dancing, eating a traditional Cretan lunch and trying their home produced Raki.
I would recommend for all ages.

We had a wonderful time with the lovely Kamihis family. Baking our own bread, making cheese, learning about the traditional Cretan way of living and enjoying a beautiful lunch is something we won't forget any time soon. There was so much food! It was all delicious and all came from the farm. We got to meet the animals and collect eggs as well. I can't recommend visiting the Kamihis Farm enough.

The passion to explain and demonstrate the rural traditions comes from Helena and Mickalis. What an amazing family! They live the self sufficiency eco dream. What an anti dote to the wrongs of the modern world where we have lost out connection to the land and our planet. You make bread with them, collect eggs, milk the goat, feed the pigs and cows. Children ride the donkey. You collect the herbs. Irrigate the land like Minoans. Then you have an amazing lunch with all you have collected. You are taught how to make cheese from the milk you have collected and then make filo pastries. The bread, wine, raki! Wow this was the most amazing meal in 5 visits to crete. An experience to treasure for life. Just take the road very slowly in your hire car. It is long and rough!!

We had been enjoying the hospitality of Kyria Katerina of Keramos studios at Zaros village over the last few years, along with the adventures in getting to know the rural life of Crete, as demonstrated at the Kamihis Farm by Michalis and Velina.
Each visit is an experience by itself! Homemade bread baked in wood fired 🔥 oven, crispy potatoes fried in virgin home produced olive oil, to mention a few, is a small sample of the tastes and activities shared with heartfelt enjoyment next to the well preserved farm.
To our pleasant surprise, the farm now offers residence in its brand new traditional stone and wood cottage, constructed nearby in a most breathtaking peaceful environment.
We look forward going back in the next season for anther unforgettable life’s experience!

I took my mother to Crete for her 60th birthday and wanted her to have an amazing experience. Visiting Kamihis Farms helped make that happen. Just driving there was gorgeous! We made bread, cheese, and got to hear about amazing traditions. The food we ate from Karob cakes to eggplant spreads were AMAZING. It's a must visit!

... the baking is great, and the host cooks them in an outdoor oven which the demonstrate too. And the best bit is you get to eat what is cooked. The food is all grown/made on the farm - its a fantastic place!
