Paid 200 THB return per person for the long tail boat to Railay. This does not seem to be negotiable as the Ao Nang Long Tail Boat Service Club seem to have a monopoly on it, with booths along the promenade and at the pier entrance. If you buy from the booths further away from the pier, they will taxi you to the pier, but you need to get your own transport back to town - plenty of tuk tuks around for negotiable prices.

The long tail boat won’t travel in bad weather and the booths will put a sign out.

We had a fab day on Railay, despite overcast weather. We went early (about 9am) and arrived at Tailay West which is a beautiful arc with towering cliffs at each end. There are select hotels along the front, and then a shopping street with mainly restaurants and bars, juice stands and a couple of massage parlours. Walk along this street to the end, and turn right (following the wall on your right) to get to Railay West. The tide was in by late morning so not much beach, but follow the signs to Phra Nang Cave for a wow beach where you can see Chicken Island in the distance, watch people having a climbing lesson (book on the shopping street) and see the famous cave (a bit disappointing).

Boats leave at 5, but we left at 4 to avoid any rush. Boats leave when full so we had a ten minute wait.

Yuck. Reminds me of Sharon Stone in the last scenes of "Casino"--a beautiful woman that turned into a drug addicted prostitute. Nicest beach in Thailand? You've got to be kidding me. The water is so dirty I didn't want to put my feet in it. The Thais that work here are rude and unfriendly--so different from the Thais I met in Koh Lipe and even in Bangkok. No, don't waste your Thailand vacation chips here. I took the hit and cancelled my last 5 days at the hotel here. I'd rather waste the money than remember Thailand like this.

Raily Beach is simply amazing. Beautiful place to spend time. The sunsets were absolutely stunning and we made sure to see them every night we were there. My only hope is that they get more garbage cans and take care of the beach because it is a beautiful place that needs to be cared for so all can experience its beauty.

Very quiet small beach with very little people around. It has a walkway with like maybe 8 restaurants and shops. Very peaceful to be at.

This is a beautiful beach. Granted, when the economy opens up again soon, it will be too full of tourists and the bars, shops & restaurants that are aimed towards the budget end and backpackers will not be to everyone’s taste. However, this does not deny the fact that this is a beautiful beach and the fact it can only be reached by boat from Ao Nang merely adds to the adventure and enchantment of this pretty place. This is just where you land, the whole peninsula is worth exploring on foot.

Railay Beach is the perfect beach. Once in Krabi, it cannot be missed. No roads lead to it, it is a 15 minute by boat from Ao Nang beach.

We have enjoyed visiting this beach and the Panang Beach too! These beaches are some of the most beautiful that we have ever experienced in south Thailand! Because these areas are "landlocked" it is not possible to drive or walk to them. The only way to get here is by ferry or long boat. Longboats are usually the best and cheapest service.

When it comes to nature and untouched natural attractions one would have thought that their quite far away from the city or the mainland civilization. Indeed, most of them are like secluded islands, far away mountains and difficult terrains. However, when it comes to Railay Beach in Krabi, Thailand it has all the characteristics of raw nature and unspoiled wonders yet surprisingly it is very near the city and Krabi's mainland. We booked a day trip for an island tour of Krabi's incredible islands, white sand beaches, mystical caves and dazzling limestone karts from our hotel's travel desk in Phu Pano By Centara which is nearby Ao Nang Beach and from here is the pier where our Speedboat departs. We were picked up by shuttle van and it took us 10 mins to get to the pier. Since we were a bit late we are the last to board the speed boat. The boat is a bit big which can accommodate more than 20 people and surprisingly comfortable. For me, it is more like a ferry type boat equipped with open front deck, life jackets and roof. I love that they serve drinks of different kinds and has an English speaking tour guide as well. With much relief, our group patiently waited for us and off we go. The ride from the ferry to Railay Beach is about 15 mins and despite the cloudy weather the seas are calm. What makes Krabi unique are the numerous Limestone cliffs and karst located everywhere from the mainland up to its islands. Just a few mins drive from the airport itself you could see them towering over the land in their rustic rock formations capped with Greeneries. The sail to Railay as expected is adorned with limestone karst of different sizes, some alone and some in groups. Railay is a peninsula located between Krabi and Ao Nang and is divided into East and West Railey. We visited East Railay where the Diamond cave or Phra Nang Nai, Phra Nang Beach and several commercial areas, restaurants, bars and hotels are located. This is where our boat has landed. There are certain parts of East Railay which are covered with mangroves and towering limestone cliffs popular for rock climbers. From our landing point, we are already surrounded by rustic limestone cliffs and luscious forests. Boats of several types including Thai Long tails and speed boats are docked here. We were ushered by our tour guide to follow him which leads us to the Phra Nang Nai cave up to Phra Nang Beach. The entry point to the cave is a small restau/bar/souvenir place which also has the toilet and visitor information guide. From its right is the raw side of East Railay where the rock climbers converge for those towering limestone karts. The left side is the pathway that leads you to Phra Nang Nai cave which is truly mystical and magical. The cave is very much intact and well maintained. It features amazing stalactite and stalagmites. Made of limestone these natural wonders are the work of nature through the years shaped from water which are unique to caves. The tourism authority of Krabi made this cave accessible to tourists and visitors giving us a safe path to walk and opportunity to admire this marvelous work of Mother Nature. The path is safe and clean and you will have impeccable view of the rustic cave showcasing its stalactite and stalagmites in different forms, shapes and sizes. I love that it offers interesting features and shapes especially those similar to certain animals, plants and even human parts. Some parts of the cave are small with narrow passages and some parts are quite big, spacious and very high. There are plants and trees littered along the passage way until you reach the hidden gem right at the end of the passage that leads to Phra Nang beach. It is a long stretch of fine white sand beach and crystal clear blue seas surrounded by limestone cliffs. We could swim at this beach and from here we took the best and memorable photos and videos and enjoyed the waters and happily strolled on its fine white sands. The left side of the beach is a continuation of the cave with a magnificent views of its towering limestone. On the right side is a continuation of the beach's long stretch that leads out to the sea and has several high end beach front resorts. From here there is a single limestone karsts out in the water but not very far. Its presence alone is rustic, raw and untamed. It's difficult not to notice it and its presence deserves a great photo and video. Of course, we took our memorable shots here. After an hour of precious stay here we headed back to our boat off to our next island destination. I managed to swim a bit here but since we only have an hour I mostly just enjoyed the sceneries of both the beach and the cave. It was indeed a natural, wonderful and magical experience here at Railay beach and off to a great start as our first stop in visiting the beautiful and spectacular islands of Krabi!!! Finally, next on my review - Koh Tub or Tup Island, which is another unique and one of a kind spot in Krabi, the southern gem of Thailand!!!

Railay beach is perfect for a weekend trip. The island is so small you can do a lot here. I recommend kayaking, catching the sunset, rockclimbing, and walking through walking street. Railay has some of the best beaches in Thailand & the limestones are breathtaking. Definitely worth the visit!
