The church can be visited free of charge. One can feel the historic atmosphere here. I also enjoyed a lot the breathtaking view over the old capital Mtskheta, which is surrounded by mountains and is situated in confluence of two rivers.

We get a taxi from Mtskheta City to Jvari Chruch and it was beautiful. The road to Jvari was very nice and the monastery itself has a great view over Mtkvari river and Mtskheta city. A must see in your Georgia trip.

The views of the town of Mtskheta across the river are wonderful on a sunny day. Great with the mountains behind the town. The inside of the Church is interesting and sombre. Lots of interesting things to absorb inside. Also wonderful photo opportunities.

Like everything in Azerbaijan, this seemingly older mosque is also fairly new. It is large and have pretty decorations, but modern.

You can cover Tbilisi leisurely in a day. There is ample public transport and taxis are not expensive. Many of the sights in Tbilisi are around Old Tbilisi or walk-able. Suggest to take a cab to Mtshketa and can visit Jvari... More
