Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

been here twice, the first time was more than 10 years ago, i still remembered when back from dolphins tour, once landed, two vendors approached me,selling some wooden stuffs and shell-like stuffs, i bought some wooden stuffs, but found no time to explore the beach, cuz after that i had to check out. the second time i visited here was few weeks ago when i revisited Bali in september this year.same as last time, when back from dolphins tour,a vendor came, selling pendants made of shell, wood, and clam.cuz he said made by himself, and all look beautifully,i bought 12 ,and got a rather good price.haha, actually,i am not good at bargaining, but considered those are handcraft,i want to encourage this kind of hand-made craft,so support him. there is a dolphin statue on beach, and some souvenirs stores and warung nearby. still found no time to relax here, cuz stayed here for two nights only, sigh…will come again for sure.

Arriving from the south, we booked 8 nights in Lovina to visit the area.
Barely arrived here, in 2 hours we were surrounded by at least 5 people who were trying to sell us boat tours, to see dolphins or plankton, or all kinds of products.
We tried to kindly decline their offers each time, but after 5 days we went elsewhere and lost 3 nights of our reservation because it became unbearable. Not only can we no longer have a quiet time without being harassed, but they become aggressive when we refuse their offer. One of them even tried to sell us a day of diving but strangely he had neither a map to give us nor a shop to go to for information. He even followed us home to charge us for an outing in advance. When we felt it coming we declined and he got angry.
Park on the streets and not near the beaches, because guys out of nowhere will ask you for money for parking.
The prices of the shops are affordable, and we have met a handful of people who don't seem interested in our money and to whom we can talk calmly without suspicion, but other than that we are fed up.
The good thing is that we visited a great coffee plantation near GitGit, and had a great time at the Funky Place bar.
Sorry Lovina, but we won't be back! We will return to the south next time.

We decided to spend our one evening strolling along Lovina Beach, which was beautiful at sunset. It was quite busy, with a number of locals also sitting around enjoying the view. As far as using the beach for swimming I'd be unsure, there was quite a lot of plastic that had washed up on shore.

We came from Perth Australia for a long holiday looks like we’re going to get a very long holiday
Jetstar cut flying back to Australia with a minimal warning our return flight was canceled we booked on AirAsia it was also canceled our only hope is Garuda got a flight in late April fingers crossed.
But if we can’t leave and are forced to stay what a lovely place to wait out the Carona virus
Were staying in a friends villa near lovina has a swimming pool nice garden and kitchen.
All the restaurants & bars are closed along with the school’s but there’s plenty of stores a bakery place to buy beer and a local fishermen’s wife comes selling fresh fish when her husband catches them.
We keep to the villa unless we have to go shopping.and wear masks all the Shope’s have hand sanitizer station out the front so you can clean your hands before & after shopping.
My friends and family send us emails telling me what’s going on in Perth
I’m glad to be out of the panic ,hoarding and uncertainty of what the government will do next I know that they have to control the spread but it seems there changing rules every day
Great place to sit out the virus’s

We did an early morning dolphin tour with friendly Kadek lambih lovina. We left before sunrise and Kadek brought some banana cakes (made by his wife) ans coffee and tea. Yes there are many other boats with the same purpose but where those are chasing the dolphins, Karta stays on a respectful distance from the animals. His words: "the dolphins like the more quiet waters". So in the end a lot of dolphins passed by our boat and we saw many!
After this we went snorkeling, coloured fish everywhere.
He charges the regular price.

We stayed here for 2 nights because we wanted to visit the north of Bali. We booked a boat for the first morning departure at 6:00 AM to spot dolphins. However, there were still about 100 boats going hunting at that time, I don't have another name for it. When a few dolphins were seen, one immediately shot. About 10 boats on the way... a purely tourist attraction... otherwise a polluted beach and little to do there.

Volcanic black sand gives the sea a unique colour - if you're looking for turquoise waters then go to the south of the island. I have mixed opinions of this beach. In some places the amount of plastic washed up on the shore was terrible, generally nearby stone tide breaks. I don't know if it's beyond the possibility of the island to clean it up ? Maybe there is a cleaning project in place? Lots of hassle to buy, visit and whilst I can understand this, especially now, it was not restful. We didn't appreciate the touts for dolphin watch either. Not something animal lovers should support, in my opinion. Several dozens of boats chasing the petrified animals. On the there hand loved watching the fishermen with nets in the sea. Great place for a sundowner.

I do not recommend this type of excursion at all. They pick you up at 6 in the morning to go see dolphins. When you arrive at the sighting area you find 200-300 boats like yours, playing cat and mouse with the poor dolphins. It is a hunt where the poor cetaceans are persecuted that practically do not leave for fear of being run over by the ships that persecute them. It is noted that most fishermen have left their jobs, because there are no fish, and have adapted their boats to take tourists on excursions. NOTHING RECOMMENDED.

I happened to be in a room directly facing the pool and Lovina beach. The next morning I saw dolphins and a very beautiful sunrise in the middle of the beach.
I also snorkelled and the next day I also saw the sunset in the middle of a very beautiful beach.
If I come back I will do it again...
Anyway very nice to be on Lovina beach...

If I could give this place a negative rating, I would. It really doesn't deserve 1 star!
I have travelled the world and reviewed hundreds of places and am pretty fair in my reviews, giving kudos to what/who deserves it.
We were told by people we had met (Balinese) before coming to Lovina, that Lovina was lovely.
Reviews on line were pretty good also.
And now I am here, and I can judge for myself, I can say, it certainly is not lovely!
And perhaps I should have questioned, compared to what?
The beach is filthy, the infrastructure a mess, the waters edge crowded with dolphin watching boats, little shabby shops everywhere selling the same product, lining the boardwalk, barking, dogs running behind you as you walk, a beach you should wear shoes on because you may stand on objects just buried out of sight and injure yourself etc.
We were not here to see or swim with dolphins, as I live in a country where I have seen many and when you go boating, often they will ride the bow wave with you and even though they are special, I don't need to join 500 other boats trying to see and swim with them.
This country is full of people, and yet very few care about the environment.
Obviously, the government doesn't care and is powerless and I scratch my head and wonder what these tourists, mainly European, are doing here, wallowing around in the filth.
The beach is littered with single use plastic bags (now banned in NZ, thank goodness) and plastic bottles and crap.
I seriously wonder about the quality of the reviews on places like Trip Advisor, because why are these people not seeing what I am seeing?
I was 'led up the garden path' by such reviews, but really people, there are no roses to smell up this path.
Don't waste your time or money here, unless you too want to wallow in the filth while you hassle dolphins.

The Bioluminescent Plankton at Lovina Beach is a pretty special experience. Don't expect to see the incredible photos, as what you see on the internet. Just enjoy going out at 9pm at night, in the warm ocean and move your arms & legs in the water to see tiny little stars shine as you move the water.

Hello,
My wife is from Poland, she does not like crowded places but we are planning to go to see dolphins in December. Can I know what time you left your hotel to see dolphins? If not early, if later we can see dolphins too or we need to pay later higher price. I sent already email to Edis brother/
Cheers,
Sutisna

Sorry Andy. Only see your question now. I do not have an answer for you. Perhaps look on fb for Lovina Bali page and ask there. Maybe the bigger resorts will offer what you want. C

Hi,
Where exactly are good snorkelling sports at Lovina?
Thanks.

Just straight off The beach. But be aware of the rather large tidal differences in water level

Hello,
Where can I find Erik? I would like to use him for my trip and hang out on his boat and swim with the dolphins!! Thank you for your feedback, so much of it is negative but I know it is what you make it :)

How far is Lovina beach from kuta??Is it worth to visit so early (3am)??
Written 25 April 2017
maybe a tip if you have to drive from Kuta. don't go on the Dolphin tour at 6 am, with the other 100+ boats. unless you like hinting dolphin.
instead, find a captain that will take you out later. We did this last week. Took off at 8 am, when all the other boats left already. Only us on the sea. Oh yes, and a few hundred dolphin!
