The castle was home to some Amsterdam elite during the Golden Age, and the 30-minute guided tour offers highlights of that period. (Non-Dutch speakers may end up with printed booklets to substitute for narration, although the guide tried to engage me in English banter on...More

Muiderslot village is great in itself and the middle ages castle is also great for kids and adults. Get there by ferry or by rail & bus or by bike. Bikes can be rented directly at the Weesp rail station (you go there from Amsterdam...More

My visit to Muiderslot was disappointing. Prior to traveling to the castle, I read many of the travel articles which stated, "many attractions are open on Christmas". Even the Muiderslot website indicated that it was open on Sundays and Holidays. I also attempted writing to...More

Got there with bus 320 in no time from Amstel station. From where the bus leaves you, there is a 15-20mins easy walk among beautiful properties and water canals ! The castle is small and can be circled in several minutes. There's also a small...More

We were really excited to visit this beautiful castle, and upon arrival we were not disappointed. The building and grounds are maintained very well, and are set in a beautiful location. The potential is there! The issue started while we were waiting for our tour...More

I visited the castle yesterday morning: as soon as I saw it from the little town of Muider, it seemed to me a nice and well preserved medieval castle. After I had bought the ticket, I entered the castle but I found nothing particularly interesting:...More

This castle is great if you are 5 years old. It is overpriced , little to see on the inside. The people at the entrance booth are rude and not helpful. They could not care if you come in or not. Stay away :(

For a history afficionado like myself this castle is a marvel. It was built in the 13th century, rebuilt in the 14th century and renovated countless times by subsequent owners. Each era left a lasting impression on the complex. The walls show merlons and arrow...More

Visiting this castle is a genuine trip to history! Thick walls, medieval interiors, good guidance with clarification some old Dutch habits, Muiderslot shows it all! Don't miss the beautiful views around and the nice garden.

We had a great afternoon at the castle. It was well preserved and renovated, interesting and educative. Also very interactive.

The queue can get pretty long. The castle opens only at 12 am. We were there at 11:45, and there were already 10-15 people waiting, and after us quite few more built-up fast before the castle opening. We had the museum card... More

I don't know about the tours, not joined them (and not sure if you really need one). Anyway, in the castle there are only few English information, most are in Dutch. Not a very difficult story, but get prepared to explain... More
