I spent 3 days learning to stone carve at this professional and friendly centre. I was a complete beginner, but this wasn't a problem for the experienced and patient tutor "Jigger". I completed a relief carving on a tile of stone on my first day, which gave me confidence and enthusiasm for the next step! The second day I graduated... More

Had a fantastic time at the stone carving. We had the whole family from 75 to 8 and everyone had a fabulous time. The carving is accessible to all ages and allows you to be creative. The 2 hours went by so quickly. I would highly recommend this for any family wanting to do something unique and enjoyable where you... More

We visited Burngate whilst on holiday as I'd arranged for two of us to attend the Introduction to stone carving day. The day started at 10 and finished at about 4 with a brief break for lunch. Val, the tutor, spent the first 10 to 20 minutes explaining the basics - and then we were off. You're provided everything you... More

With either a full day or a 2hr introductory session you will thoroughly enjoy your time here. All too quickly it will be over (which really shows you've been enjoying yourself !)-but at the end of it you will have gained so much knowledge about stone carving- the tools, techniques, safety etc. with excellent tuition from Val Quinn. You'll also... More

This is a good place to have a go at stone carving if you haven;t done it before. The teacher was very knowledgeable and patient and we ended up after 2 hours with a plaque total home. The brochure does say "cafe"- 2 outside tables and chairs and a place to make a coffee and buy a biscuit. Costing £15... More

We booked the Adult have a go stone carving session and a great time. We both came away with a carving of a simple leaf. Our tutor Val was very helpful and information. We used Purbeck local stone and it was a very hard rock and therefor difficult to carve. Perhaps an option to use softer stone might help beginners.... More

As we were on holiday in Dorset we thought this would be a fun activity, so we signed up to the have-a-go adult stone carving which is £20 per person. Our teacher was brilliant and gave us very easy instructions to follow, we were all very surprised when after 2hours we all had created lovely pieces of stone-carving which were... More

We regularly bring the children for the stone carving sessions and they love it. They are well looked after and get to create amazing things. It's a lovely setting and they serve tea! Watch out for the compost toilet.

I signed up for the 2-hour 'have a go' session and thoroughly enjoyed it. I've never done any carving before and the time just flew by. I now want to do more ... Thank you to Val who was our tutor.
