Although it is an almost entirely gravel route, quite tiring at times, and is not for everyone, because it requires some driving experience, it is worth the nearly 4 hours of travel, to do one of the most beautiful ones that I visited in Argentina.
It is not exclusive to have a truck, but it makes the trip much easier, it can be done perfectly in a regular car, some climbs may be more difficult and the stones or gravel may be more noticeable in some parts.
According to the comments I read, some had gravel in worse condition, but at least for us, who did it on 8/1/2023, it was impeccable, recently smoothed, I don't know how often they improve it. There are a few very narrow sections of cliff where only one car passes and you cannot see who is coming in front, but they are enough for someone with little experience to feel intimidated and insecure, and be dangerous.
Regarding the landscapes in the section of the Quebrada de las Arrows, I repeat that they are truly incredible, they are only 20 km of the 150, but they make the entire trip worth it, the rest of the trip is beautiful, not very different from the rest of the landscapes.

We were on a small group tour from Cachi to Cafayate. The journey along the dusty winding road with the even changing mountain scenery was quite spectacular. When we came across the Natural Park where the eroded cliffs resembled arrow heads, we were out of the small bus in an instance to take in the stunning views of the area. This area is not easy to describe as it was so different to anywhere else.
Well worth the trip. I recommend a tour as the roads are not easy to navigate.

If you go to the Northwest area of Argentina, do not miss the Calchaquies Valley. I recommend renting a car to drive from the city of Cafayate northwards to the city of Salta through the gorgeous, colorful villages of Animaná, San Carlos, Angastaco, Molinos, Seclantás and Cachi.
From Cafayate (a city famous for its vineyards, namely producing the Torrontes variety) to Molinos you go through these amazing rock formations shaped as arrows. It is a gravel road, no gas stations, almost nothing but Mother Nature.
Better if you do it before sunset...lovely colors!
Do not spend the night in Angastaco, just move on for some extra 40 km to Molinos, to the only hotel in that Village, with charming colonial rooms and a lovely swimming pool overlooking the valley and mountains for 120 dollars double bed room and breakfast.
Youtube has beautiful films of Quebrada de las Flechas.

We left Motions and headed south on Route 40 towards Cafayate. This stretch of Route 40 is an experience...only wide enough for one car in places and completely gravel and sand until you get to San Carlos. We drove through some of the most amazing landscape...moonscape, verdant valley, arid desert, red rocks....you name it.
We stopped briefly at El Carmen which had the most beautiful views and a hotel and a coffee shop....but it was siesta time and everything was closed!! They really don't get the "tourist" thing here at all!
Then we drove through the famous Quebrada de las Flechas (Arrow Gorge) which was incredible. I've never seen any landscape like it. It was as hot as anything and one the one side of the river you had sand and on the other the reddest rocks you had ever seen. Spectacular!

After reading that Angastaco is the place to go and will soon be destroyed by tourists (lonely planet) we took the horrible unpaved route from Cafayate. After nearly destroying our car we arrived to a dead village with nothing open and nothing of interest. There was a view point outside the city that was pretty and reminded us of Turkish cappadocia but it wasn’t worth the horrible drive. Stick to the other side of Cafayate where the roads are better and views just as good! I wish someone had told us this and written this before we left. Biggest waste of time.

The drive along Ruta 40 is full of amazing landscape and in this part there are eroded cliffs with overlapping layers of strata resembling arrows and thus the name of this area. The name translates to Canyon of the Arrows. It is a Natural Monument. The road is dirt in this area and the ride thru it is an adventure. It’s on the way between Cafayate and towns further north.

A gorgeous drive that will have you gasping. Make sure to have a lot of space on your memory card or just a really good memory. Well worth the time.

A spectacular place, incredible journey. Wonderful rock formations on the way 70Km between Cafayate and Angatasco. It can be done with a rental car. If you have good physical fitness may be a bike ride. Another way to be in this place is for tours departing from Salta and Cafayate.

Drove from Cafayate to Molinos then through Cachi, the National Park and back to Salta. Absolutely spectacular scenery the entire way. It kept changing from one amazing landscape to another. I have never taken so many pictures, well worth the time - pack a lunch and go!

I had read about Quebrada de las Flechas before our visit to the Salta area but with so much to see wasn't high on list. However it turned out to be one of the most fantastic of the many scenic wonders of the area. It isn't a tourist attraction and there is nothing to do except just revel in the colourful landscape.

Nuevamente gracias a quien pueda responderme.
