The City Airport is located in the Barton area of Manchester, near Eccles... This is a great place to spend a few hours... free entry and parking... however be aware that this is not a huge airport as it caters for light aircraft and helicopters... According to some older relatives, this airport (formerly known as Barton Airport) once competed with... More

We enjoy coming here with our 2 little boys It's free, there's picnic tables and a small swing / slide set that they enjoy going on. Often get breakfast at the cafe and a hot drink. We go to the fireworks displays here which are really nice / small and children friendly

If you're interested in planes and helicopters, City Airport is worth a visit. It's free to get in and there is a cafe/bar on site that serves food and drinks. There is also a small childrens play area which will keep the kids busy.

I work as a nanny and I regularly visit the airport with the two boys. They love anything transport and love coming to the city airport. There is plenty of sitting areas outside and an inside cafe/bar- slightly expensive, with inside seating. Outside you can watch the planes flying, taking off and landing. There are a few play structures for... More

For anyone remotely interested in light aircraft this airport (used to be called Barton Airport and was at one time Manchester's main airport - unbelievable!) is a good place to go when the weather is good. There's lots of aircraft activity and the conversations between pilots and tower are easily heard on a suitable receiver (120.25 MHz). There is also... More

We came to the City Airport today for lunch and a bit of plane watching. Its a lovely place when the sun is shining. Good food at the cafe there too, but there are picnic benches outside if you wanted to bring your own lunch. We also came for the airshow last year, which was brilliant - shame its not... More
