Met with a group of other dog walkers (14 dogs in total of the same breed) for a lovely January dog walk.
Easy to park (yes not cheap to park, but on the basis it goes towards maintenance etc of this lovely location, it was worth the fee)
It was very quiet while we were walking, I’m sure in drier & sunnier months it it much busier.
Had a lovely walk for about an hour+.
Looks like plenty of other walks here, so will probably revisit.
The cafe is large with plenty of seating.
Only niggle with it is that the serving area is very tiny which means waiting for a coffee/snack can take a long time. Even on a cold January morning we waited a long time to get served.

Terrible food not even hot soup and coffee.
The staff are rude and offer to heat up your cold food.

Sadly since parking charges have rocketed here I can’t afford to walk my dog regularly there. A lovely place but to pay £5 for a 2 hour walk (2.50 for a rushed walk) is too much when there are other lovely free places in the area. Just a special treat visit there now. 😞

Have you thought about buying an annual parking pass? It costs £65 which is only £1.25 a week. https://shop.hants.gov.uk/collections/river-hamble-country-park

A great place for a walk and picnic. The views from the river are beautiful, lots of dog walkers about and we enjoyed sausage rolls and chocolate milkshakes from the cafe which was on the whole a bit overpriced.

Been coming here for a swim and paddle board for half a year now! It’s a lovely body of water and provides lots of room for many users in the water.

However on busy warmer days it appears almost impossible to dock and put away your paddle board on the jetty, due to the amount of crabbers taking all the space on the jetty so I had to get out through a bog.

This is a lovely park to spend a day with the family or a dog walk. However, the cost of parking is extortionate. It says that the parking charges help maintain the park but this is not the case. There is a voluntary organisation that meet regularly to maintain the park. They meet at the barn in the middle - surely they don't charge the volunteers to pay to park?

Saw amazing pictures on FB and trip advisor … wanted to take my family to see the river.
Signage really lacking when we arrived so ended up wandering around trying to find some sort of trail… went completely the wrong direction.

Stumbled across the obvious (when you actually figure it out) okay area which you would have to travel past to get to a river trail. You can’t walk past with a 3 and 5 year old so basically travelled 25 mins down the road to go to a playground! It was very hard to peel them away then to go on a trail. It was really nice, but didn’t vibe with me really, mainly as I was so frustrated at the lack of signage.

5 mins walk passed the playground is the river which was beautiful. I may come again and try again to find other trails but I’ve no burning desire to return. I found Itchen valley much more suited for us with the kids as the trail includes play equipment as you move along so keeps it fun for everyone.

I wanted to love it … but I just didn’t, sorry!

Also would add not much parking I would think you would struggle with this on a summer day and apparently this is shared with the farm but I don’t know for a fact.

We mostly come here for the crabbing. The jetty is a great place to sit for a few hours with a net and some bait. We managed to catch shrimps and fish a few times aswell. Great for dog walks and a nice little park themed around the many ancient ship wrecks in the River Hamble. Follow the ships trail and spot the artifacts at low tide. The Hub Cafe is handy for a coffee. Parking charges are reasonable if you take into account the upgrades to the park, clean toilets, dog washing facilities. I would typically spend half a day here. There is an overflow carpark by the BBQ area, I don't think many people are aware of it. Even on extremely busy days I've managed to park.

As other reviewers have noted, this experience is vastly overpriced and poorly organised. There are some pleasant walks, but a lack of signage doesn't offer much guidance. I could just about tolerate the over inflated prices if there was a better sense of value for money, but sadly there isn't.

I booked a BBQ spot for some of my friends and I. On the information sent to me via email prior to the day there was information about purchasing coal at the site as well as collecting and returning keys at the visitor centre and barbeque utensils. On arrival we were told the BBQ was already open - no information about how to close it/leave it and the lady at the information desk had no idea about purchasing coal.
There was no visitor centre that was mentioned in the email and the lady at the information desk sent us to the farm which had even less of a clue - luckily we managed to drive out just before th 45 min free parking deadline to go out and buy extra equiptment.
It was a nice area and experience but disappointed in the misinformation and lack of help on site.
