What a fabulous way to spend a creative, fun, friendly & informative afternoon around the pottery wheel in the capable hands of Lee and Kathy.

Their enthusiasm and knowledge shines through.

Highly recommended!

My granddaughter ( aged 11 yrs) and I had a most satisfying and enjoyable morning being introduced to pottery by Lee at Bentham Pottery. We were both novices and Lee proved to be a very thorough and patient teacher. We felt comfortable and increasingly confident as he encouraged us to improve our efforts. I highly recommend this activity and we are looking forward to seeing our glazed pots in a few weeks time.

The four of us had a friendly and informative morning session from Lee and his mum Kathy. We’d all strongly recommend this hands-on experience. Came away wanting to do more!

My sister and I attended a half-day session with Lee at Bentham Pottery, as a birthday gift to me from her. We both had such a wonderful time. Lee was really great teacher- thorough, patient and refreshingly honest (some of our attempts were not good!) He explained things in a detailed but understandable way for total beginners, with lots of memorable tips and tricks to help us get the hang of things. We both got plenty of time at the wheel, taking it in turns at first, then once we became a bit more used to the technique, there were two wheels available so we could both make pottery at the same time. We were only there for half a day, but it felt like we made a lot of progress- a huge part of that was down to Lee's teaching approach. The whole session was really fun and it was great to be able to pick our two favourite bowls to take home at the end. After the day, we were struggling to find time to make it back to Bentham to collect our bowls (now fired and glazed) so Lee posted them to us. This was easy to arrange with fast communication from Lee via email and the bowls were carefully packaged at a reasonable postage cost with no breakages! When the bowls arrived they had been stamped (into the clay, prior to firing, so they won't rub off) on the bottom with our names, 'Bentham Pottery' and the date we attended the session. It was a lovely, thoughtful touch. The only suggestion I can think of for possible improvement, would be to maybe offer a choice of glaze colour (so you can match it to your kitchen crockery/ home decor). Overall, excellent experience and would highly recommend.

I attended a one day pottery course on my own. There were two other lovely women who also took part.
What a treat. Lee and his Mum Cathy were really good at explaining and teaching throwing. The photo shows my attempts.
We then made a moulded bowl.
Can’t wait to pick up my fired and glazed bowls.
Highly recommended. It would be a great present for anyone.

Lee and Kathy were very welcoming and I had a great half-day with them. Lee is a brilliant teacher. He carefully explains and demonstrates every step but most of the time is spent hands-on at the wheel. In half a day I learnt how to centre the clay and throw basic cylinders and bowls. I really recommend it!

I went on this course with my mother. It was absolutely amazing, Lee was so helpful and guided us through every step and we managed to create some lovely pots. He is such a skilled potter and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and look forward to a return visit! Highly recommend.

We received this course as Christmas present and had a wonderful day!

Lee and Kathy were so welcoming and accommodating, taught us all the basics and made a great cup of tea (of course served in their hand made mugs).

We cannot recommend this course enough, fantastic day out.
