Lots to do including proper 'farmy' stuff
We really liked this place, because there was lots of 'proper' farmy stuff to do as well as the obligatory kids play area and activities. Our kids (5 and 8) loved bottle feeding calves and baby goats and feeding the ducks and goats (all under farm supervision) and handling the chicks and guinea pigs. Even on a wet day the kids really enjoyed themselves. Top marks.

An excellent day with the family.
I took my sons family to Longdown. Three adults and two children formed our group. We all thoroughly enjoyed the day. Feeding a line of calves, holding 2 or 3 day old chicks, feeding the goats and being so close to a Shire horse. there was something different around every corner and we even had a ride behind a tractor. The farm shop was used and several purchases were made. An excellent day.

    A wonderful day out.
We took our Grandchildren aged 9 & 4 and we had a great day. They loved being able to touch the animals and feed them. The staff were lovely and it was very well organised. The icing on the cake was the wonderful playground. All in all a 10 out of 10 day. Thank you.

    Amazing experience
Great again we have been coming to see father Christmas and visit the farm for 3 years now and every time I’m well impressed with the well kept grounds, stables, animals ! You really can feel here that people are enjoying their jobs, our boys love the animals feeding and animal encounter activities. Christmas lodge is so beautiful, our boys asked us specifically to go and see real Father Christmas at Longdown farm who is always very kind and happy to chat to them ! Well worth the visit ! Thank you x

    An absolute must 🌟
This is a must with young children, we had a fantastic few hours here and so pleased we went. The interaction with the small animals, being able to hold and pet them is fantastic. The Staff were so friendly and seeing my young grandson bottle feed a baby goat absolutely made my day. There are Horses, Donkeys, Pigs, Chickens, Ducks, Goats to name a few alongside the smaller rabbits, Guinea Pigs and Chicks 🐥 The Calves were gorgeous and just being able to interact with all of the animals is priceless. Good Facilities, plenty of hand wash stations and so well kept everywhere despite how wet it has been. Thank you to all at Longdown 😊

    Great family day out
We really enjoyed our visit here, animal feeding times are well advertised and there are plenty of opportunities to do this. Our visit was during the Easter holidays so there were queues for each feeding time, however, they were very well managed. The outdoor play area was fantastic. We will definitely visit again in the future

AIMED AT AGE 8 & BELOW..
Had a decent day out for the price but think the place is aimed at 8 years & below tbh I went with my friend & his 3 year old so perfect day of feeding/Holding onto the animals.. They have calves, baby chicks,Ducklings,Guinea pigs,Piglets when we visited.as well as a Shire horse,Donkeys & geese.. Went on the tractor Ride around the field but feel they need to put possibly the Horses,Donkeys in this field so you have something to see rather than an empty field.. (Not a complaint just an idea)

Turned up to a very busy car park where if it was wet we would have left as it’s mostly grass. Whilst mentioning that don’t come here if it’s raining as you would be very disappointed as there is very little to do with children inside. There’s a play barn with nothing to play with inside and the sign should be removed. My daughters face when she went in was crest fallen.

Outside apart from the trampolines your kid would be bored in 20 mins. The petting barn was the highlight as my daughter loved handling the chicks and Guinea pigs. The rabbit was pretty anti social though! After that, we fed the goats. 15 min queuing for a very hungry goat to demolish its milk in 20 seconds and we were done! I’m not sure who the farm is aimed at but we’ve been to better places for less. More activities if you are going to charge this much we’d say.

To sum up, this is a farm with a few kiddy bits. It is not an ‘activity’ farm and 2 hrs max for £30 is not value for money. Disappointed.

Expensive for what it is. This place really needs some TLC injected in to it. There were hardly any staff about and it really felt as though it isnt cared for. The animals seem to be looked after ok although the pens certainly could do with a clean. The play equipment looks pretty new but there was no control on the trampolines. They really need some staff down there to order things. The grazy golf is £1 per ball which is ok if the course you then play on has been looked after. The stones from the pathway are all over the tatty green areas which doesnt make for easy play. It would have taken a quick sweep to sort this. Parts are broken and in need of a lick of paint. Planting out the areas in between the holes would really improve the area. This could be a real little money spinner for them if they put some effort into improving the course and gave it some love. A little manned bothe with score cards and sanitation on the clubs etc would be very welcome. Maybe take some inspiration from the farm and have veggie patches and flowers, a fake bee hive etc. Use it as an education tool with info boards on each hole. It could be so so so much more. To be honest that goes with the rest of the place. It feels like a working farm thats just dumped a few other bits in so they can charge for you to come in. There is no love in the place. You can feed the animals at certain times and yes you have to queue but thats normal anywhere you go. My children enjoyed the encounter barn and got to hold a baby chick and a guinea pig. A couple of the play tractors were broken but are just left there so its pot luck if you get one that works and the smaller ride on area is just that small and its location is rather stinky. They queue for the tractor ride was ridiculous so we didn't bother with that. The little cafe and kiosk do sell a good variety of food and drinks and is reasonably priced (around the same as other places we visited) Its a shame the Duck racer didnt work as that would have been fun. More Rubbish bins are needed and staff need to empty them esp at lunch times as they were all overflowing.

Overall it has real potential to be a lovely place but for us it was overpriced and a let down. I wouldn't visit again unless improvements are made.

Expensive entry, very run down facilities, long queues for feeding any of the animals. You have to pay for activities once inside despite the expensive entry fee (e.g. crazy golf (£1 per ball!), digger ride). Half an hour queue for a 1 to 2 minute feeding experience. Overall, we have visited much better establishments with better facilities.

We had a really lovely day at the farm, and our 2 year old especially enjoyed bottle feeding the animals. There was lots to do and you could easily spend a day here and take a picnic.
The day was well organised with sessions repeated in the afternoon. You will need to book and it seemed that the morning sessions get booked up early…although once there you could stay all day
The only criticism was the hour spent queuing for a tractor ride
A great day at a good price. Would thoroughly recommend

Such an enjoyable place to visit. I have visited many times over the years as a kid and now I can take mine there too. They loved feeding the goats, ducks and getting to hold a guinea pig and a chick. The diggers are a main attraction for my son and getting to play mini golf too all adds to the day. The adventure play ground was never ending fun for both of them and could of played there for the rest of the day.
I never found a problem with social distancing and and having to worry about Covid. Hand sanitiser was everywhere to use and hand wash facilities were also available and well stocked.
Looking forward to coming back soon

I visited the farm last week with my friend and their 3 year old child.
Firstly, the car park is an absolute shambles- enough to wreck your suspension. I found that having to cross a busy road to get to the farm from the car park was dangerous and set us off on the wrong foot.
I could only book the 2pm slot and thought the admission price should have been reduced as we didn’t get the whole day. I think it’s damb right greedy and cheeky of the owners.
Once inside the farm, the lady at the front desk directed us to the Animal Encounter Barn which the child enjoyed holding a chick and guinea pig.
Then it was off to feed the ducks. However, this was something we couldn’t do because a sewage like smell was starting to linger around the farm. It was horrendous. The 3 year old in our company was so disappointed he couldn’t feed the ducks, but due to the smell and people feeding them shoulder to shoulder we felt it wasn’t safe to do.
We diverted away from the ducks to see the horses and donkeys. They looked so sad and uncared for. Disgusting.
Away from the animals, I thought it would be nice for the little one to enjoy trampolines.... CLOSED! At this point I just wanted to leave.
I had fond memories of visiting Longdown as a child... I can honestly say that 20 years on the place has not changed one bit! No investment whatsoever.
The only positive was the gentleman in the farm shop. Very welcoming and bought some nice things for dinner.
All in all I felt that the afternoon entry should be reduced, the Farm needs a good overhaul/tidy up and the toilets need to be upgraded and not just the portable type (the toilets on the day we visited were disgusting with wet floors and paper towels everywhere). AVOID if you can’t deal with the smell of sewage too.
P.S. The place isn’t covid secure as we had to avoid encounters such as with the ducks as it wasn’t managed and was a free for all.

We visited the farm a couple of days ago and just feel very confused by the reviews on here. I had previously read the bad review and thought it can’t be true against all the great ones, but unfortunately it is. I have come away feeling sad for the animals . I know it is a farm, but I had to wear my mask the entire time as smelt in nearly every part. It felt as if the farm hadn’t been cleaned for a very long time and yes there was sanitiser at the sinks but it still didn’t feel they were very clean. The tractor ride wasn’t on, the trampolines weren’t open or the play barn which is understandable at the present time but it just all felt very tired and in need of a good tidy. The ladies toilets were filthy with overflowing bags of rubbish which should be dealt with in the current situation. We spent 1 hour and 15 minutes at the farm which does not warrant the entry fee. The barn where you could handle the animals was much better and felt cleaner and was a nicer experience.
I asked to speak to someone when we left which I have never done before, the lady at the counter said she was the owner and she called her husband, the lady was very nice and very shocked at my opinion and I felt sad about this , it was not my aim to upset anyone I just wanted to hear their response, the male owner was more defensive about the farm and explained it was a working farm, and that they have a lot more animals than others, I try to understand this but i think I would rather have less animals and a nicer environment and cleaner facilities for the animals and paying public. I hope that things improve for the sake of the animals and the visitors.

We visited with two young boys, aged 4 and 2, and had a brilliant time even with some unpleasant weather.
The sessions with the animals are varied and excellent with very friendly staff to help and support. Between animal sessions, there are a range of activities to keep children entertained. The go karts and diggers were enjoyed by our two boys; they also loved seeing the baby animals.
The cafe is very reasonably priced and efficiently run which made lunchtime very easy.

Longdown farm seems to be reliant on structure with activities that go on through the day, you will miss out a lot if you are not there the entire day. The animals are lovely and the place is clean, but I would have liked to see the enclosures a little more child (and adult) friendly, my children were desperate to stroke the guinea pigs and rabbits, but we had missed the allotted time for this.

The toilets were in my opinion sub standard, they were clean, but portacabins. There is a disabled access toilet, which to be honest if you are anything other than slender you will need to use.

When we went back to the shop (average theme park prices) - the lady at the counter was surprised we did not do all the activities, but we didn't have time, £44 for two adults and three children was expensive considering we were only there for a few hours.

We visited on my daughter's birthday just before midday with my two grandsons paying the family rate for 2 adults and 2 children: First of all sadly the tractor rides were not operating as it was muddy?? Boys disappointed at this their first request, the queue to have contact inside the Animal Encounter was so long we couldn't fit in a visit. The go karts had seen better days and were extremely difficult to manoeuvre because the surface needed more wood chip to absorb the mud and damp. There was no supervision or assistance here. You had to pay additional coin fees at the crazy golf and we didn't have any cash. The Play Barn was a self catering eating area with bench tables, the only play items were pictures and games stuck on the walls: one area in which the children could make figures using velcro taped tiles were so clogged up that the tiles would not stick to the velcro on the wall: We managed to miss all the bottle feeding events, and even though there it must have been a difficult time during Covid, the whole impression was not at all like the glowing website.
Sorry to be negative the visit was not inexpensive.

I thank this contributor for taking the time to write a review, unfortunately the Health and Safety Inspector does not allow us to operate the tractor rides when the ground is waterlogged apparently it is not safe when the trailer slides alongside the tractor in these conditions, it is a shame as it is so much fun when I am in the driving seat! All our staff work extremely hard to reduce the 'wait time' at all our activities however during school holidays there may be a 20-minute wait. All our Go-karts are replaced each season and well maintained considering the use they have on our 'off road track' they are in excellent condition. Both our Crazy golf and diggers have card and cash payment facilities. Our Piggies Play Barn has been very popular with most of our visitors as it requires adult interaction with the children as they explore the games and puzzles around the walls of the area, the tables are well used as a welcome rest for the parents whilst the children explore the barn. Hopefully this contributor will consider visiting us again at some point.
